Original article: Are you going to hell?

@Hawkdriver

Before insulting someone, why not read a little more carefully what they say. I am well aware that Holmes was instrumental in spreading anti-bacterial practices. What I said was that the other "scientists" of his day scorned him for it, thus proving that what many scientists do or say does not always support what is true and verifiable. My pastor does not think for me. I think for myself. No need for Google, just go to

http://www.accessexcellence.org/AE/AEC/CC/hand_background.html

for more information about Holmes.

"Contrast this to those who cling to Bronze Age myths and who, if I can quote Stephen Colbert, believe the same thing on Wednesday that they did on Monday, no matter what happened on Tuesday." said the Quantum Theorist to the General Relativist.

What has happened since I was convinced of something greater than myself has served only to reinforce my convictions. The evidence is everywhere and overwhelming. It takes the blindest of fools to... never mind.

I like what Hawking (who admittedly, does not necessarily believe in God), says in his book A Brief History Of Time. "So long as the universe had a beginning, we could suppose it had a creator [the cosmological argument]. But if the universe is really completely self-contained, having no boundary or edge, it would have neither beginning nor end: it would simply be. What place, then, for a creator?"

This is why some scientists hate the Big Bang theory, as it implies creation, while others think them fools for not agreeing with it.

Mr. Driver, I do all my own research. How about you? Do you have any "holy men" in your life?

@Taliesan

You have truly exposed your ignorance of the topic.

"It was not science that prevented doctors cleaning their hands, it was superstition, in part based on the only religious culture in the world to not have any basic codes of cleanliness (Christianity.)"

What an utterly ignorant statement.

Any Jewish Saloners wish to help him out?

Here's a hint Mr. T: The Old Testament.

Former born human now states that he was not born.

That's about as consistent as "Former born-again Christian John Marks... discovers that he was not born-again". You are either "born-again" or you are not, but you can't undo any kind of creative process. The introduction would better read "John Marks, a man mistaken about the reality of his religious experience journeyed back..."

Just like you can't undo being physically born, you can't undo being spiritually born. An understandable and rather common misconception. Now, if he really were spiritually reborn... Well, he wouldn't have an article like this in Salon, would he.

@Anonymous

I did not say you could prove or disprove whether a person is spiritually born. However, just like any other point-in-time experience, what is done cannot be undone. You can't "un-see" a movie. That assumes you saw the movie in the first place. You can't be un-born spiritually. Yes, yes, that assumes that it actually happened in the first place, but that is what the headline reads, isn't it? "Former born-again Christian John Marks..." Not "supposedly born again", or "perhaps born again", rather "born again".

Was he or wasn't he? He said he was (not I), and the article says he was, but obviously he was not. To be deborn, why, that would be a miracle, no?

@Hawkdriver

You are correct. It was Semmelweis that died nearly insane due to his treatment from the scientific community not Holmes. I stand corrected.

Now, am I wrong because my "research" was faulty? In the same post you criticize my research you also state that I simply repeat things I have heard in Sunday School. Previous to that you said I only repeat what I have heard from "holy men". How can my research be faulty if I do none? Your obvious anger, condescension, and insult betrays your insecurity.

If you can't make your case, resort to insults. That works every time. Does religion debase a man, or a lack thereof? What does your life demonstrate?

"Self-delusion is comforting to the deluded, perplexing to the rest of us", said the critics to Dr. Semmelweis.

I bet he wouldn't write if there were no people to read it.

Just a guess.

Climate Change? Please send Al another check.

Only an idiot refuses to admit that "global warming" is headed to the same dust bin as radon, the ozone hole, and acid rain. Congratulation to you chumps that made Gore rich(er) over this ruse.

If you don't like what is expressed below, prove they are wrong before simply vomiting the same ol' GW rhetoric.

From Fox News

Cold Reception

Tuesday we told you about several areas around the planet experiencing record cold and snowpack — in the face of all the predictions of global warming.

Now there is word that all four major global temperature tracking outlets have released data showing that temperatures have dropped significantly over the last year. California meteorologist Anthony Watts says the amount of cooling ranges from 65-hundredths of a degree Centigrade to 75-hundreds of a degree.

That is said to be a value large enough to erase nearly all the global warming recorded over the past 100 years. It is reportedly the single fastest temperature change ever recorded — up or down.

Some scientists contend the cooling is the result of reduced solar activity — which they say is a larger driver of climate change than man-made greenhouse gases.

I think McCain

could use a chinskinectomy. My son pointed out that his head looks like an uncooked turkey. He is a monster by all accounts. A liberal, socialist, anti-constitutional monster at that.

Nooooooo!

"The last KOF cartoon will run 3/4. There will be one more cartoon. After that we are dropping her."

However will I remember those links to good comic strips that the disgruntled Salon comic readers always include in the KOF feedback?
