Just because I start a blog, which costs a few dollars to get going, does that make me a reliable source of news? I like what one responder stated "I don't seek out bloggers just because they support my views... The likelihood is that that is the larger reason that this person seeks out bloggers. They say what he wants to hear. If they didn't, he wouldn't read them long.

Who does Mr. Greenwald et al's fact checking? Please don't say the readers. They are far to busy/lazy for that. Who penalizes him when he "gets it wrong"? Who does he answer to that could shut him down if necessary? Whose fortune will be lost if he is discredited. No one. Zero restraint. Is that good? If you think that bloggers have to be truthful or correct to be popular and successful, you need only study the methods of Joseph Goebbels. Hitler had possibly the world's greatest blogger.

The MSM may not say what we like, but it is nearly impossible for it to simply spout lies concerning facts that are of great importance, which can be checked, and get by without recompense or critique. It's good that we have "left" media and "right" media. They keep each other in check. On the other hand, as has been proven by the profane, slanderous blogosphere, no one keeps the bloggers in check unless they go so far as to incite near rioting or suicide.

Another responder praised the "barbarian" bloggers. The unruled and unruly against the rules and the rule makers (otherwise know as lawful society). Do you really want them to be your only source of information? In this environment, a lie is just as easy to promote as the truth. Down with the MSM! Burn them! Burn them! Goebbels would love it.

Tell me, what reason would a blogger have to tell the truth, if telling a lie would make him more popular?

Two words: Peter Kurth. He is an archetype of exactly how many of worlds citizens view Americans. Ugly, vain, loud, vulgar, profane, or simply entitled.

My wife traveled to Ukraine with a group of tourists. While on the boat that would take them to various destinations, they were fed the finest foods by workers that were paid pennies per hour. Much of the food was fresh fruit and vegetables. Much of it remained uneaten, much discarded. When something arrived at the table that was not readily recognized, many of these adults acted like spoiled children, made faces or complained to the staff. My wife was ashamed to be associated with them.

When it comes to world opinions about America and Americans, blame the government if you want, but just remember than the government is made up of capitalists providing you with what you want, with the power and wherewithal to get it. The Middle East hates America because they have something we want, and we will do anything to get it. I am America, you are America. When we all give up our cars and electricity, the Middle East will no longer have any reason to hate our government.

What is most sad, is that it does not take the government to generate disdain and even hatred of Americans. All it takes is Americans like Peter Kurth and so many more.
