Durian

"resistance to gun control tends to come from rural and Southern states..."

Durian, go to that rural southern area called Detroit, and see how many people there are for increased gun control. Your assessment of where resistance to gun control originates is inaccurate. I would not be at all surprised if it were found that more democrats own guns than republicans.

There is an article here on Salon by Carey Tennis titled "I'm almost 21. Should I buy some guns?" Read the responses, and note the number of times you see "I am a liberal, and I own guns". I think one can safely assume that the average liberal reading and posting to Salon is not some redneck union truck driver (no offense to truck drivers or rednecks - both of whom I can relate to), many of whom also own guns. The liberals posting are more likely real-live educated liberal liberals. They own guns too. The people more likely to be afraid of guns are soccer moms. Guess into which political demographic they usually fall...

Original article: This Modern World

The more people that are prescribed

"I don't care" drugs (I don't care if my life is a mess, I don't care if my family is falling apart, nothing I do will make me care one way or another, etc), the more likely that someone will do things that a require an "I don't care" mind. It's not the guns, it the drugs. Living straight in a Prozac world.

What a sad mindset

What a victim. What an alarmist. What an egomaniac. "Every man I see wants to rape me". Not me, baby.

"There is no public space for women; the whole world is a prison where you have to be constantly aware at all times that you're a potential victim."

That's like saying "because I am a child and weaker than all of the adults, they all want to beat me".

I personally have never met anyone that expresses this paranoid sentiment. Thankfully. If this is really what modern feminism is about, I'm glad it is confined to a few self absorbed areas of the country.

P.S.

You can call it serious literature if you want, but potty mouth is potty mouth.

You wonder why the rest of the world is disgusted by Americans?

Two words: Peter Kurth. He is an archetype of exactly how many of worlds citizens view Americans. Ugly, vain, loud, vulgar, profane, or simply entitled.

My wife traveled to Ukraine with a group of tourists. While on the boat that would take them to various destinations, they were fed the finest foods by workers that were paid pennies per hour. Much of the food was fresh fruit and vegetables. Much of it remained uneaten, much discarded. When something arrived at the table that was not readily recognized, many of these adults acted like spoiled children, made faces or complained to the staff. My wife was ashamed to be associated with them.

When it comes to world opinions about America and Americans, blame the government if you want, but just remember than the government is made up of capitalists providing you with what you want, with the power and wherewithal to get it. The Middle East hates America because they have something we want, and we will do anything to get it. I am America, you are America. When we all give up our cars and electricity, the Middle East will no longer have any reason to hate our government.

What is most sad, is that it does not take the government to generate disdain and even hatred of Americans. All it takes is Americans like Peter Kurth and so many more.

How many technicians does it take to

clean up the mercury from a broken CFL? One + $2,000.00.

Hmmm, I wonder where all the mercury goes when people throw these things in the trash. You know they do. You know they will.

I am tired of the man bashing. Why not a story about a charming fellow who just happened to marry an abusive woman who thoght sex was a right and vebally and physically abused him? Not P.C. I forgot.

Where are all the stories

about the blazing successes of Pelosi and Murtha? Why so quiet, Salon? Why no critiques of the Democrats, and their massive overhaul of the political system? Nothing good to write. I see.

Yo, Keef

How 'bout some o' that democrat humor. You don't mean to tell me that republicans are baaaaaaad, and democrats are goooooood, do you? Get some balance, dude. Speak truth. All truth.

You could have Clinton look at the oval office, while rubbing her hands together and saying "my preciousssss" or something like that. Or you could have the entire democrat party crawling into Pelosi's mouth.

They're all liars, all thieves. Party means nothing. Speak truth.

Why did they have

a Hispanic student of the the year? Are they suggesting that Hispanics can't compete with the general student population? What would happen if the same student that won Hispanic student of the year also won Generic student of the year? Would they disqualify him?
