"However, I think this time the dems' plan, at least, has some merit." "Dem" (i.e. politician) and "merit" in the same sentence. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahha
"1) Start basic investigations that will gradually uncover a mountain of evidence that will then demand indictments and impeachments (Cheney first, of course - then shrub.)"
You have got to be kidding. Big dog politicians do not actually go after each other. They have an agreement. It's how Nixon got pardoned and Clinton stayed out of jail.
"2) Immediately pass simple but hugely popular legislation that will cement dem popularity with voters: minimum wage hike, lower prescription drug prices, etc. Then use that good will to deal with the tough stuff like universal health care and withdrawal from Iraq."
The proposals that the politicians are dangling are neither simple or popular. The democrats have no mandate. They did not win. The republicans lost. I especially like the part about "lowering" drug prices. Hey Yellow Dog, I make drugs. How 'bout we find out what it is you trade for money, and lower the cost of it.
"3) Dare shrub to veto legislation desired by large majorities of voters, then beat him over the head with those vetoes daily."
The things you mentioned are not "desired by large majorities of voters". They may be desired by a majority of socialists. Spineless Bush may likely not veto stuff passed by the politicians, but if he did, there are not enough votes (along partisan lines) to overturn his veto.
"As I always say, never underestimate the ability of democrats to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, so they could still fuck it up..."
You should have started and stopped here and replaced the word "could" with "will"
We can all look forward to days of serious liberal lamenting, as the "party in power" proceeds to massively disappoint, much like Clinton (the first republican democrat president) did a few years ago. Remember, the only thing better for Rush, Hannity, et al, than "republicans" being in power, is "democrats" being in power.
Best wishes for interesting times,
Poco

From a previous post:
"I'll shed a tear or two for you when I can finally start taking the $100/month medication I need but can't afford.
Or maybe not.
-- SueinNM"
Dear Sue,
If you think that some politician stealing my drugs and giving them to you is any different than you stealing them yourself, think some more. Consider this scenario. Your stealing my drugs has a negative effect on my bottom line to the extent that I just stop making the particular drug you are stealing from me. Now you and everyone else can suffer whatever consequence comes from not having the drug at all.
Here's a clue as to how the real world works: People starve to death every day in Africa. Please send them all your food, Since they need it more than you do (you, after all can at least beg for food in a country that throws tons away every day). If you don't like the idea of starving or begging so someone else can have what they do not currently have, you are thinking rationally.
You can't always have everything you want. You can't always have everything you need. This includes houses, cars, food, clothing, and drugs.
You will say I am not compassionate. You do not know me. Would you like to compare charitable giving? I'll post mine, if you post yours.

Be glad to ktwdawg. Put your money where your violent, profane mouth is, you loving, tolerant, caring liberal. We'll work it out with Salon. I will post my giving by amount, percent of income, and net worth. All you have to do is do the same and convince ten other long-term registered Salon users to do so as well. We'll see if Salon would be willing to moderate, and post the results. I don't think you will bite, however. One thing I am sure of is that you are a typical liberal. All talk, and let others do the action.
Concerning how much money I or anyone else make, the only people that argue about "absurd profits" are those that don't have the drive to earn them. Liberal, conservative, democrat, republican. It makes no difference what the philosophical background. There are wealthy people of all stripes, but rarely do they (if ever) refer to what they have earned as absurd. Do you know how much money Barbara Streisand makes for simply singing? You are under-informed and most likely not terribly successful. You appear to be regurgitating all the usual socialist talking points. Get to know wealthy people better (not that I am one), and you just might get over your own lack of achievement enough to notice that they do actually earn their money. They are usually brilliant and hard working.
Regards,
Poco

You having lunch with Ann Coulter today? You talk just like she does.
"It's time for Democrats to step up and do what they were elected to do: Oppose this president's disastrous war with a smart and courageous strategy."
What everyone knows:
They. Don't. Have. A. Strategy. Of any kind, much less a smart and courageous one. I think this is going to be hilarious. First the democrats claim they won the election on a mandate based on their brilliance (they didn't. The republicans got whipped by their own constituents), now they want BUSH?!?!? to fix things? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

P.S. I am not a republican
because they are criminals, wouldn't it stand to reason that democrats would have to be voted out too?

Unless your last name is Conason, I'm not talking to you.

A stingning rebuke by such a well spoken individual.
