The Bottom Line

Genesis 12
1Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
America is, by and large, a Judeo-Christian nation. Many Americans are connected to the above words at a very deep level. Say I am wrong/sick/Nazi, or anything you wish. Scream and holler at me till your face turns purple. I Have seen it before. Your protests do not change the truth.
If you think this is based on superstition, consider this: How is it that such a tiny nation, and such a despised, beaten-down, dispersed, and persecuted people could contribute so much to the world in so many different arenas? How many Arab scientists did Germany force to work in its war laboratories? How many Chinese musicians, comedians, writers, and performers have dominated the world stage? How many tiny, repressed ancient civilizations have created a religious system that has come to be one of the most dominant in the world? How many destroyed nations have arisen, centuries after total annihilation to become one of the most powerful in the world? How is it that they consistently whip nations larger, more populous, and more wealthy then they? How is it that, per capita, more Jews have excelled at so many different things more than any other ethnic group in the world? In health-care alone, the number is staggering. (before you discount this, do the math). Why are Jews so despised, not just by their nationally adjacent enemies, but by so many people in the world?
Because they are different. Perhaps they are God's chosen people after all.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]How right you are. Thank you for saying what I have been thinking all along. Every war that has ever been fought has been either for land or money (religion is just an excuse, a motivator of the masses). It is the way of humanity.
For all you Americans that down Israel for "taking" what was theirs to begin with, run right now, find an Indian, and give him your house. Or shut up.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]If history teaches us one thing, it's that he who has the better military is always "right". All of you smug lefties just need ask an American Indian. After you discover that your apartment is on his ancestor's hunting grounds, please give it to him. I applaud Israel for once again using the resources at their command to demonstrate their assertiveness. If you got it, use it. They are making much better use of the property than the Arab's ever did. They have, at least, some arguable claim to it.
Consider this too: Arabs slaughter other Arabs on a grand scale. Jews seem to live together pretty harmoniously, even though there are significant social and religious differences among them. Who would you rather be in charge?
But for goodness sake, let's not pretend that humans are nice to each other on a large scale, because only a fool sees the obvious and draws the wrong conclusion. For some reason, it seems that humans love to hate each other. Depeche Mode got it pretty much right.

Here is a funny thought. Did you ever stop to think that if NPR was so (or any) good, that there would be commercial competition in their format?
As for politicians, they're all from hell. The only person that should be allowed to serve in a position of power is the person that refuses to do so. I think the last presidient to do that was George Washington.
Bigger question. Why is Salon promoting a government propaganda machine?

If you forget that whatever he once was, he is now a stinking politician, you are stupid beyond belief. Here's a noble quote from your noble hero:
"You give us the banks where you want the money deposited," offered one of the [Abscam] bagmen.
"All right," agreed Murtha. "How much money we talking about?"
"Well, you tell me."
"Well, let me find out what is a reasonable figure that will get their attention," said Murtha, "because there are a couple of banks that have really done me some favors in the past, and I'd like to put some money in...."
