Original article: It's a man's world

Re: Masculinity's last gasp

"In fact, it doesn't need men at all, we have sperm banks. No wonder men are scared as hell."

Hey RS - are women now ejaculating sperm too? Wow, maybe feminism really is a strong force in achieving equality among the sexes after all...

Your conflagratory response indicating that men are 'no longer needed by society' is blatantly hypocritical and self-absorbed. If someone were to make the same comment about women not being relevant to society, I'm sure you'd have a few things to say. Perhaps women can be replaced by a Roomba and some Jergens lotion? You're no better than Maddox when it comes to objectifying the genders – wake up, sister!

This letter made it to editor's choice? Huh...

Bill Hicks was right!

Anyone remember Bill Hicks' rant about Rush from back in 1997? He was nearly prophetic! I'd post the quote here, but it's pretty offensive.

Check it out here:

We miss you Bill...

LW is twisted

Advice to LW - leave you child with your husband and then get the hell out, you ungrateful wretch. What makes you think you are the more appropriate parent? The (false) presumption of maternal superiority?

Clearly, you are emotionally unstable and you would damage your daughter beyond repair if you were her sole caretaker. Your so-called ‘depression’ is just a mask for your confused combination of self-loathing/blind conceit. Your husband sounds like a much more stable person who would likely provide a better upbringing for your child than you. Seriously – give him full custody and then move on with your pathetic life, you whining loser.

You don't deserve the care and comfort of a stable man. Go chase your dreams of greener grass and leave the hard work of raising your child to someone who is actually capable of truly loving her. Your ridiculous equivocation that you 'love' your husband but aren't 'in love' with him is a clear symptom of your shallow, confused and self-interested attitude towards life. I'm sure that you don't really love your daughter, but rather see her as an extension of yourself; therefore your regard for her is really just a symptom of your conceit.

Here’s hoping that dad and daughter can move on swiftly and get on with building a great life together – without you.

Original article: Conan's crash and burn

I'm offended...

...by the fact that you didn't link to the whole skit. I don't have cable and I rely on VideoDog to get me the best clips from TV. Conan's usually good for a laugh or two, even when he *IS* being polically incorrect.

I call BS

This letter is an obvious fake written by a GOP political hack to create unrest regarding the Democrats initiative to raise the minimum wage. What a joke - and so blatant too!

Stupid "Environmentalists"

The cutting of ski slopes is largely beneficial to wildlife, since it produces significant 'edge-habitat' - the ecotone between forest and field. This is the most highly productive area in a forest ecosystem and is favored by wildlife during the summer months. During the winters, most herbivores head for sheltered areas deep in the forest, away from the slopes. Their predators follow them there.

Uneducated, so-called "Environmentalists" often lack an understanding of sustainable forest ecology or forward thinking silvaculture practices, but rather react to cute pictures of bunnies and lynx and act-out irrationally based on emotion rather than intellect.

Ironically, the ski slopes mimic the open areas naturally created by forest fires, which have largely been eradicated from western forests by forest managers (until the ground cover builds up and we have a massive, out of control blaze).

The idiot ELFs who burned the slopes of Vail were actually acting counter to the best interest of the forest – but who cares? It makes for great press, right? Wrong…again.

Yo-Yo Skiing

From the sound of your letter, you're as big an asshole as those you chide - only difference is you're a solitary asshole off in the woods alone..where you should be. Anonymous cowards on the internet = losers.

Begging the question

"I'm not talking about a set of beliefs. When I think about religion, what comes to mind are personal relationships with the supernatural, with God or with spirits, and compassionate action. "

Religion is may involve action, but it starts with belief. Mistaken belief to be sure, but certainly not based on any real interaction with anything other than our own minds and the delusional lives of other zealots.

How long to we have to listen to this new age reworking of the same old story? Religious belief is a sign of weak intellect and fear of the world/death.

Those brave enough to open their eyes to reality (by leaving behind Bronze Age mythology) will find enough mystery and wonder in the REAL world to satisfy.

Why is it that we all laugh at the Scientologists for being such goof-balls, but we tolerate the older, but still as fake, religions? Remember - someone made all this shit up 6000 years ago - and you still believe it? Suckers...
