It is not really communism (in its failed or any other form) or socialism (ibid) or persons of a different color or capital gains tax hikes they fear. What they really fear is the singular certainty of life: they'll die. They'll each (just like everyone) become irrevocably, indisputedly and insistently dead. At some point, they'll cease to be. They will be ex-humans. And they know deep down, irrevocably, indisputedly and insistently ( a little voice tells them so often) that what they profess to believe in just makes that fear of death a little more survivable. They cling to their religion (and their guns and their home-schooling and their ilk) so tightly because it gives them a pretty (ugly) lie that assuages how bad it feels to know, deep down, they'll be dead. Done. Finished. They're in a cave, looking out at the dark and there are eyes out there - other eyes - looking back at them. Eyes of big things, red in tooth and claw.
We fear them (and their shenanigans and their shamans - the Palins and Bushes and Roves and Negropontes) because we can imagine how much more pleasant our lives could be for their duration and how much nicer and more pleasant for coming generations - and their durations - if we didn't have to expend all of our energy slogging uphill in the mud against the results of their misguided fear of mortality.
I think I shall make a lasagna now.
(wasn't Seromon a little flying yellow cartoon pig?)
"God's Little Turnips"
That hurt. (my sides).
Maybe Stalin was doing the loaves and fishes trick with the turnip, ala "The Seromon at the Kremlin"?
Slackie - That's the heartbreak of the whole enterprise -- the groundwork has been laid by the GOP for so long, their partisanship and demagoguery spread so thick and wide, that it poisons the whole process, divides the country against itself, so that even if Obama manages a landslide, the "war" won't be over, the "fight" will continue unabated. Ignorance is the only alternative, renewable energy source the GOP truly embraces.
Freakin' beautifully put.
But not as bad as when Slate went knerpy the other day.
Firefly - I think she would probably end up pronouncing it "Romular"
Mishanti2 - It's OK, I'm eating enough for both of us -- massive plate of little smokies at the moment (my second breakfast). :)
Wrong Post. (Whacking self in head saying Dork!Dork!Dork!)
"Never mind" -- Emily Litella
"If Clinton, Edwards, or Kucinich..."
I think if those scenarious had played out the epithets from the McDumb/Satan Palin camp would have been 'New Yorker', 'Philanderer' and 'Romulan Stealth Candidate' respectively.

...on why this is so freaky-slimy:
http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Evergreen_International_Aviation%2C_Inc.
I remember way back in high school three decades ago when even then people were talking about them as a CIA front.
I wonder how many other statese got similar offers of 'assistance'?
http://www.newsregister.com/article/22932-evergreen-makes-offer-post-polling-sentries
An offer by the private security arm of Evergreen International Aviation to post sentries at polling places in Oregon — for the stated purpose of “stopping any violence that may occur” — has raised eyebrows among election observers, prompting reactions ranging from alarm and confusion to laughter.
The offer was made in an e-mail from Evergreen Defense & Security Services President Tom Wiggins.
It was initially interpreted by some as a statement that the company planned to dispatch guards to all 36 county election’s offices, whether they wanted them or not. But that was never the plan, the company said Friday.
Evergreen spokesman Josh Parkin described the offer as a commercial solicitation. He said no one had taken the company up on the offer, so it ended there.
Yamhill County Clerk Jan Coleman was not among clerks receiving the e-mail. However, she said she also would have declined.
“I would say no,” she said. “It’s not something I would do.”
The News-Register obtained a copy of an Evergreen e-mail sent to the clerk in Douglas County on Oct. 10, along with copies of some subsequent communication in response by state elections director John Lindback.
Evergreen Defense & Security Services is affiliated with Del Smith’s McMinnville-based cargo airline company. It exudes the gung-ho patriotism that is associated with the company founder, a political conservative who enjoys close ties with the federal government and military.
The company’s vision, according to its website, is “to help ensure the God-given right of peace, freedom and democracy to all people.”
Wiggins, a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, ends his note to elections officials with the initials RLTW! That’s short for “Rangers Lead the Way!,” a reference to the elite special operations force of the U.S. Army in which he served.
Who are all those people?
The numbers have actually been great - Obama attracts 100's of 1000's, Palin attracts 1000's and McCain attracts 100's. If you're referring to who is actually showing up at Palin and McCain's rallies, why, those would be the percentage of the local populations with active rabies! :)
I hope that is the best that the J. McDumb/Satan Palin camp has to offer up at the last minute, because I don't see it having much traction this late in the game. It's effectively got one day - Monday - to bleed through the Repunditocracy, and can't see that much potential for any major hemmoraging before the polls open.
now.
I suppose at this point that what I really (in a VERY loving way) is to hope that your suicide is painless.
I think you need to end your life. But I want that to be comforting, love-filled experience for you.
So please do it. And when you conclude yourself, make it lovely and comfortable. Warm water in the tub, sharp blades, some nice scented candles.
bye bye!
