This Won't End Here
[Read the article: The strange case of midnight renegade oleander gentrification camouflage]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Although I am generally a “turn the other check” type of person, I do agree with those who feel that if the elderly neighbor and her son are offended by this shrub invasion action should be taken. This week Ritzy Neighbor had neighborhood beautification issues. Next week it will be a barking dog. Then it will be the kids playing in the street. I can say with some certainty that this will never stop. I have a close friend with a neighbor like this and the complaints culminated with threats of calling the police over a handicap accessible bus parking in front of a another neighbor’s house to allow that person’s child to go to school (she is in a motorized wheelchair).
If at all possible, maybe shrubs could be donated to community organization that needs landscaping materials. In fact they should be donated in Ritzy’s name so that the whole community could appreciate her generosity. Regardless, I hope that your neighborhood can once again become a “live and let live” sanctuary.
