[Read the article: The ugliest election]

Although Obama was listed as the most liberal Senator in 2007 by the National Journal the ratings were scewed due to the fact that Obama spent much of his time campaigning in 2007 and he missed a third of the votes. In 2005 the National Journal rated Obama the 16th most liberal Senator and 10th most liberal in 2006.

Obama is hardly a leftist. His views are slightly to the left of Senator Clinton. He's not nearly as far left as my favored candidates Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel. He won't support a single payer health system, he was praised as a leader to watch by the right wing DLC, has opposed impeachment of Bush, and he supported Lieberman against Lamont in the Democratic Primary. He has also voted for continued funding for the war.

    As a reply to ohmercy,

"Edwards and Obama weren't on the ballot in Michigan..."

    "Their choice."

"most of the votes that were registered undecided would have gone to either of them."

    "perhaps.

I believe that the votes for Clinton would still have carried the day."

"Also, Clinton broke the agreement not to campaign in either of those states"

    Incorrect.

"Actually it was Obama who ran campaign ads in Florida."

The facts are that Obama ran nation wide ads and the Obama campaign asked the networks not to show the ad in Florida but the networks said that wasn't possible.

"Clinton is the one who is acting like Bush."

    "How so?

the idiotking did NOT want to count votes because he knew/feared he would lose the Presidency.

Clinton WANTS to count the votes even though she knows that it will not win her the Presidency."

Obama proposed that the delegates be split between him and Clinton and that would have been fair since exit polls show that Clinton would have recieved about 46 percent of the votes if all of the Democratic candidates were on the Michigan ballot and the Michigan Democratic party decided that holding a revote would be impractical.

"I find it ironic that after Gore and Kerry lost people were outraged and attacked them for not fighting, for caving and now when there is a candidate who would do just that she is demonized."

Not caving in to the Republicans is not the same as siding with the Republican candidate against a fellow Democrat like the way Clinton implied that McCain would be more qualified then Obama to be Commander and Chief.

Clinton has not only snubbed blacks, the most loyal part of the Democratic base but under her husband NAFTA and GATT wrecked lowered the standards of living of working class Americans of all races. Clintons long time campaign aid Mark Penn is the head of a public relations firm Burson-Marsteller that conducts union busting and has Blackwater as a client. These are hardly things that would appeal to the Democratic base. Their is also the fact that in the past six primaries one in ten of people who voted for Clinton say that they plan on voting for McCain even if Clinton is the Democratic candidate. http://www.jedreport.com/2008/05/clinton-gets-36.html

  • Racism not a problem for Obama

[Read the article: How much will white racism hurt Obama?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Although about a third of Clintons Kentucky supporters said that they would not back Obama in november it must be remembered that in 2004 42% of Kentucky Democrats supported Bush over John McCain. Generally, if your a racist you wouldn't vote for the Democratic candidate no matter who it is. Why would people assume that Clinton has a stronger base among working class voters of any race when during the Clinton administration NAFTA and GATT s trashed working class people and neither Clinton supported a true universal health care plan. Here is an article that shows that racism is less of an issue among working class whites then it is among upper income whites. http://www.alternet.org/election08/80894/

  • @lordbyron re Jesse Jackson Sr

[Read the article: How much will white racism hurt Obama?]

Actually Jesse Jackson recieved millions of white working class votes in the 1988 Presidential primaries so I would assume that lower class whites think more favorably of Jesse Jackson then upper class whites.

  • Henry Wallace

[Read the article: Who will Obama choose as veep? Nope, you're wrong]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Henry Wallace was not gulled by Stalin. His warnings about the dangers of militarization and the need for international cooperation were prescient and he would have made a much better president then Truman. This article shows how Wallace was right about the Cold War. http://sweetpeareview.blogspot.com/2007/07/empires-dont-care-what-people-want.html
