bears vs. chiefs
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Devin Hester caught a kickoff or punt (I don't remember which) and but one foot out of bounds which ended up being a good thing. I'm not sure why because my TV went blank for the explanation of that rule.
Can any of you guys explain?

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Thank you. I heard Simms and Nance dissing the play and then start to retract and then ...blank.

I first heard about Nicole Simpson
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]on the radio in SoCal during a mid afternoon news update. It was a non story: Nicole Simpson was found dead. She was the ex wife of OJ Simpson and on to traffic... Everyone to whom I mentioned the story that day couldn't care less. But then came the white Bronco chase a few days later. I wanted to watch a rerun of Married With Children, my father preferred the chase so I watched the chase. I followed the trial and the verdict and the civil case and now I've got the Vegas incident. So I know I'm in for OJ3. I haven't had a good whacko story since Andrew Cunanin.
Is it true that Ford stopped making Broncos after the chase?

any former latch key kids out there ?
[Read the article: Kids gone wild]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I enjoyed the show. It reminded me of my latch key youth starting at age 8. Coming home to an empty home and making myself oatmeal or mac and cheese after school. My brother and I would tear up the house fighting or tear up the house getting along. I'm amazed that we did not do more damage to ourselves or property .
During the summers we and a handful of other kids with a working mom would run wild throughout the neighborhood. Or worse, 10 kids would be someone's apartment with absolutely no adult supervision. Sliding down the stairs backwards on a mattress was an old favorite rainy day activity. And we'd have little lunch parties that occasionally ended up in a food fight.
We didn't kill ourselves. Very rarely even hurt ourselves. And now look at us. We are self sufficient members of society.

free beer tomorrow
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Dear Anonymous,
From one North Sider to the next, anyone who cares about sports in Chicago cares about the Bears. Yesterday's Cubs game ended more than an hour before the Bears kick off. There are still a lot of die hard Hawks fans too(we casual fans gave up).
I love the Cubs. I've believed in next year since I moved to the city 10 years ago. I love going to the Friendly Confines for beer and baseball. I loved Mardi Gras in Wrigleyville in 2003 and had to laugh at the whole Bartman thing. I want the Cubs to win because this town needs a good Loot-N-Riot (got my eye on a plasma). But it the end we're always saying,"There's always next year" which is alot like saying "Free beer tomorrow". I've come to terms with it. It's fun to watch them win and it's fun to watch them lose. (I'm also a Raiders fan since childhood. Ditto for them).
Dear South Sider,
Why are you people so crabby? Many many Cubs fans were very happy for the Sox to win the World Series. But you guys just hate and hate and hate. You got your championship for crying out loud. What are you hatin' for?

[Read more letters about this article: Here]You're a south sider and you were not only on the north side but at the Cubby Bear? I didn't think that happened. Ever. Nonetheless, I wasn't in Wrigleyville for those games. The bars there so touristy and jocky and meatheady. But the neighborhood bars I went to in in Logan Square, Rogers Park and Wicker Park had a civilized crowd that was happy (if only for a fleeting second) after that, as always, the Cubs fans just stopped thinking about the Sox.
Were you on the north side cruising for girls in tube tops? And did you wear an Astro's shirt doing it? Really. What's a southsider not only doing on the northside but in Wrigleyville?

not a yuppie
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Notice I did not mention Lincoln Park or any subsurb. But ok, Wicker Park is the new Lincoln Park.
And yes I am a transplant. But I'm having a hard time accepting all Chicagoans as a bunch of narrow minded townies. Ya'll are making them (that would be you guys by the way)as such.

thank you dadski
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Thank you for the rerun of the letter. I'm sure I read it before and was touched then but then quickly forgot about it as i went about my day.
I get it, somewhat. Like I said, I ain't from these parts. I'm not really from any ONE place either so I guess I'll never really get it.
When the Red Sox won it was a very sentimental moment for their fans, generations of families waiting year after year. My boyfriend was born and raised a Red Sox fan and I very much remember the very late nights into the umpteenth inning with the pacing and the muttering and the swearing and going through the 5 stages of death at the start of every extra inning. Just to realize that we'll go through again the next night. But it was magical when it happened.
Just like for the White Sox' generations of fans.
And one day, there will be free beer tommorow.
Thanks again.

smoking pot
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Right up there with jaywalking as far as I'm concerned.
Smokers smoke. When life is rosy, when life isn't rosy and mostly when life is just life.
Vick smoked pot. You crossed against the light.

Notorious W.E.S.
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Pretty much the same way Steve Bartman did it to the Cubs in 2003. The Curse done afflicted 'em.
