FOIA

It boggles my mind that the right can file a freedom of information complaint against NASA to gain access to all communications and documents regarding global warming research. Why can't we do the same for the Pentagon to figure out how they so completely botched the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan? Can we file a FOIA request for the State Department to figure out how they can still employ Blackwater after dozens of murders?

Really?

"We have nothing to hide"... in our top secret super fortified underground bunker complex. No, really, our top secret super secure fortress in the middle of nowhere is totally open to the public! Sure.

Original article: Everybody hates mommy

to do or to be?

It seems to me that while parenting used to be something that people DID not it is something they ARE. That is what annoys me about these entitled mommies. I remember when mothers were people who also raised kids. Now they seem to define themselves by their parenthood. Raising a child should not be a lifestyle.

Original article: Bear attack!

Really?

I was more struck by the women who "wouldn't touch him" with a ten foot pole. Having seen pictures of some of the editorial staff at Salon I must say... pots are calling a kettle black.

Umm...Kate?

Your husband was right about the sweat pants.

Resources vs. production

"We now live in a world where 20 percent of the population -- that's you and me, bub -- use 80 percent of its resources,"

I'm tired of seeing this kind of statistic thrown around with no context. Those who use the most resources also are the most productive. In fact, the productivity of the Western economies is a larger portion of global productivity than their usage of global resources. That means they are pretty darn efficient. What would be your solution? Pull resources away from the most productive economies and give them to the least productive economies? We would have the same amount of resources being used with lower productivity and lower economic growth for everyone.

COD

I'm half way through the game's story and have been playing online. I would say that you should be more concerned about the ridiculous macho "Team America World Police" attitude of the game than of any violence.

Victim?

The guy isn't a victim, he is a psychotic! Seriously, there have been dozens of vets who have had psychotic breaks and have murdered people but he is Muslim so suddenly that makes it terrorism rather than mental illness? Read about the three soldiers in Colorado who went on a months long killing spree after returning from Iraq and have killed at least 6 people. Hmmm...wonder why no one is calling them terrorists?

@marc

"At least with my DW, after she was done breast feeding our three sons, years later her breasts are still much larger than they were before she got pregnant. If this is true for other women, it might make husbands more supportive."

Did you mean to make a pun by using the word "supportive" Mark? Bigger boobs are fine but if they drop 18 inches lower then it cancels out the effect.

Oh Tracy...

"So, forgive my defensiveness, "

I would but... you just get sooo defensive sooooo often about SO many topics that it gets harder each time to excuse your defensiveness.

It's the coloring...

Yes, $1200 may be a bit of an overstatement but coloring hair is very expensive. I dated a lovely blonde for six months before learning that she went to the salon to color her hair twice a month (irrational fear of roots?) and it cost about $300 each time. That was one of many things I learned about her that convinced me we were not meant to be (priorities out of whack). I don't live in NYC either so I'm sure it costs more there. Isn't there some middle ground between spending a fortune to look like a model and getting the "I've given up on life, I'm not a woman...I'm a mom" short hair style?

O'Reilly reasonable?

The only thing Taitz did with this protest was point out that for once Bill O'Reilly seems to have taken a reality based position.

Far Left = Far Right?

What I am seeing in the feminist left and the LGBT community is the same thing we are seeing in the Republican party, the insistence that only bills and candidates that are 100% ideologically pure are acceptable. Seriously? Are we going to do what the Republicans did in NY and dump any moderate Dems who don't meet every issue test and replace them with a hard left Ideologue?

The "Root" of the problem

Having read in the local paper that Pamela Root had "no idea" that the pilot was referring to her when he mentioned a "passenger issue" you have to assume that she was a rude and clueless parent. Honestly, your kid is screaming and kicking and having a total meltdown and you have NO IDEA that this is an issue for the other passengers on the plane?

You don't get it...

I don't think Williams understands exactly what he is talking about. He is referring the the fact that in our modern society famous men (athletes, TV personalities, actors, musicians, etc.) have women throwing themselves at them all the time. He is saying that many, if not most men cannot handle that kind of temptation. It is too much for them. Their sex drive is too strong and persistent, their will too weak. I don't think many men would argue with that. Fortunately, the vast majority of men are neither rich nor handsome nor famous enough for this to be an issue. Whitlock may be a poor writer but he isn't wrong.

Tyrant?

I'm curious about your use of the word tyrant. Can you tell me one single way in which your life is different now? One single thing Obama has done to oppress you? Oh, and before you start huffing about how much he is spending please look at the deficit and notice that his spending would add but a very small % to it. It was all there before he got here.
