Original article: Obama surfs through

Spare me

For two long years we listened to Obama do exactly the same even after they removed his training wheels! Anyone criticize? Anyone notice how he whined and blamed everyone! Everyone was accused of playing the "race card" against him but who specifically started it with the Clinton's and then followed with the pre-emptive strike against McCain..."they'll say I have a strange name and did you notice, he's black"?

"Inaccuracies"? "Visited 57 states and I have only two more to go?" Didn't know what Memorial Day represented? Didn't know that Russia had veto power? Apparently he skipped American history. But heck, who cares....certainly not his beloved press or his sheep.

Wow, just wow. Blamed everyone? Race card? When? Where? You have no documentation. No clue. And you follow the standard script. Call people you disagree with sheep. Trot out some slips of the tongue. Blame the media. What I saw tonight on King was someone who frankly, is an incoherent mess in an interview situation. Turn everything into an answer about oil. She can't even say goodnight without talking about oil. What was most striking is when King returned to the panel. It was jarring to hear people capable of answering a question directly in a coherent manner in a diagrammable syntax.

I suppose, if you reply to this at all, you'll just call me a baby killer or something, but part of why I don't like Palin is that a key part of a healthy democracy is having a couple competent sides contesting elections. I'm all for a qualified conservatives. Bring them on. Hell, if they win, great. That's why we have elections. Huckabee, Jindal, Newt Gingrich, hell even Ann Coulter can talk policy in a coherent manner. Palin is just a self aggrandizing distraction

Thorny Issue

Bayh may well have a point, that a happy Lieberman is less troublesome. That said, I don't think the Democrats really owe him much of anything. People occasionally cross party lines to campaign for the other side. That happens. But what seems to get lost in all the conversations is that Lieberman lost the Democratic primary and ran against a Democratic nominee. Still, he expects a chairmanship. Amazing.

Permanent Majority is unlikely

Every 4 years, we get claims that there will be a permanent majority for the winning party. Thing is, new divisions always occur. Both parties are unstable shifting coalitions. I don't think we will ever see the same Republican party again. But some new division will come along to split whatever majority the Democrats may assemble. We don't fight over the gold standard anymore...

Which beliefs get emphasized

They can do what they want, but It's odd to me that they feel the need to single out one issue like this. There are so many issues the church has stands on, and I would venture a guess that more of them probably align with the Democrats than the Republicans, but this is the standard trump issue regardless of what else a candidate may stand for

One good thing to come out of her candidacy

If she inspires some kids 40 years down the road, that's great. Hopefully she inspires them to learn about governance first.

Especially the really useful stuff

What is abundantly clear is that Palin is terrible in interview situations. Unfortunately, the really interesting stuff will never be verifiable. On their own, some factual errors aren't the end of the world (although the sheer number here are concerning). What was most concerning to me was the leak that she refused to be prepped for Couric interview. We'll never know if it was true or a smear, but to my mind, if true, that would be the most daming thing. Incurious, ignorant, and unadvisable. We'll never know I guess.

Original article: Larry Craig is still guilty

Couldn't have happened on a better day

Blago coverage kept this out of the national press for at least 6 hours after the Star Tribune had it.

Court is Correct

It looks like Blago is probably guilty, and he has been a bum for years, but Madigan's suit was a pretty loose interpretation of disability. There are mechanisms for removal, follow those.

Dumber than a Sack of Hammers

Glenn Beck is perhaps the most willfully ignorant person on television. I'll never get over his treatment of Representative Ellison when he was elected in 2006.

Good Riddance but....

I find it highly unlikely that he is not guilty, but at the same time, I'm curious if the stuff on the tapes is really strong enough to convict him in court. What has been released so far shows that he is guilty of being an asshole, and certainly of having bad intent, but none of what I have heard so far really gets at a clear cut quid pro quo

Original article: "The comeback starts now!"

Superficial but

There is nothing I hate worse than a politician wearing a T shirt over a button down. Bipartisan bad taste.

New Republican principles are interesting

Suddenly separation of powers and bipartisanship are things they consider important. I'm sure there is no self interest afoot here.

How thick are they?

Any intro to American Politics textbook will tell you that has been the supreme court standard for years. The only aid to parochial schools is aid that goes for things that are part of their secular education. Hello, LEMON TEST!?!?!?!

Most Loathesome Man on TV

Glenn Beck is just dreadful. His faux regular guy schtick (while making millions with his own TV show, is completely phony, and frankly, he doesn't seem to have a clear grasp of anything.

Bloody Hell

Democrats really need to hire better accountants. I don't think the republicans are any cleaner, but they are better at hiding it.
