Just Imagine what the cost of a war on Iran would be!

[Read more letters about this article: Here]The usual suspects (the Israel lobby and the neocons) continue to push for a war on Iran. The NIE has slowed the Lobby and the neocons down a bit but we count them out at our own peril.
The "holocaust" the Israeli deputy defense minister threatened the besieged and impoverished people of Gaza with is the latest in this mad rush to war.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]The neocon's true objective is to improve Israel's strategic standing in the Middle East. This was clearly expressed by leading neocons Richard Perle, James Colbert, Charles Fairbanks, Douglas Feith, Robert Loewenberg, David Wurmser, and Meyrav Wurmser in "A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm" (Google the title), a landmark report by the leading neocons at the Institute for Advanced Strategic and Political Studies. In defining what Israel needed to do (and the US had to pay the price for) the neocons said:
"Israel can shape its strategic environment, in cooperation with Turkey and Jordan, by weakening, containing, and even rolling back Syria. This effort can focus on removing Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq"
The intended audience for the report was the fascist Likud government of Israel led by Benjamin Netenyahu at the time.
The neocon policies were carried out by the US after 9/11, under the leadership of the neocons in the Bush administration who allied themselves with the military establishment.
The leading neocons tried (with great success) to "likudize" the Bush administration. They cynically used the anger, fear and confusion felt by Americans after 9/11 to carry out their policies under a variety of guises (WMD, international terrorism links).
Now that they have succeeded in getting America to fight Israel's war in Iraq, the neocons and Israel Lobby and are working overtime on McCain's campaign (now that their favorite candidate Giuliani is out) to get the US to fight another war for Israel. This time with Iran.

Note that Vilnai used the word "Shoah" which in Israel is reserved for Holocaust notwithstanding the subsequent spin to try to give it the almost never used explanation of "big disaster".
Could this have anything to do with Ehud Barak's, Israel's defense minister, inquiry into the legality of "moving" Palestinian civilians from their homes? http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/960634.html

[Read more letters about this article: Here]OK not withstanding the spin about the US/Israel "relationship" in the Clean Break report, let's consider the following facts:
1) The neocon authors of the Clean Break report (Richard Perle, James Colbert, Charles Fairbanks, Douglas Feith, Robert Loewenberg, David Wurmser and Meyrav Wurmser) all played a key role in selling the Iraq war to the American public and the Bush administration using spin and outright lies.
2) The Clean Break report was directed at Benjamin Netanyahu's government. In the report, the neocons made the argument that undoing Saddam was a supreme interest for Israel
3) Most authors of "Clean Break" were key members of the Bush administration as well as being leading neocons
4) The Iraq war was completely contrary to American interests. It helped Israel, however, completely destroy its strongest Arab enemy
5) The same group of people (along with the Israel Lobby and the Christian Zionists) are leading the charge for war against Iran, a declared enemy of Israel (yet one that hardly threatens the US if you look past all the spin).
I think the neocons and the Lobby got used to getting America to do their bidding that they think Americans are stupid and cannot put 2 and 2 together. Can you?

Desmund Tutu, Jimmy Carter and Daniel Barenboim were all accused by the likes of you of being anti-semitic for standing up for the basic human rights of Palestinians against the apartheid state of Israel (basic rights like being able to travel on the same roads as the Jewish colonists who steal the Palestinians land)- I am glad to be in their company.
But could you try to control your angry bees for a minute and tell me which one of the following facts you dispute?

Jews are offered $10,000 per person to immigrate to Israel (doubled from $5,000 in 2007) http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/881714.html
I fail to see why Iranian Jews would need such incentives if they were being murdered by Iran as jjppmd claims (could this be more disinformation from pro-Israel spinners?)
