Trick me once, shame on you. Trick me twice, shame on me!
[Read the article: Bush knew Saddam had no weapons of mass destruction]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Undoubtedly the neocons and their buddies in the Israel Lobby were aware of the facts about Iraq. Their goal was to launch a war for Israel's strategic interests as documented in the "Clean Break" study co-authored by leading neocons Richard Perle, James Colbert, Charles Fairbanks, Jr., Douglas Feith, Robert Loewenberg, David Wurmser, and Meyrav Wurmser who were instrumental in bringing about the war.
"Israel can shape its strategic environment, in cooperation with Turkey and Jordan, by weakening, containing, and even rolling back Syria. This effort can focus on removing Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq — an important Israeli strategic objective in its own right"
- A Clean Break:A New Strategy for Securing the Realm, Institute for Advanced Strategic and Political Studies, http://www.iasps.org/strat1.htm
The neocons are now hoping to start a war with Iran using the same discredited arguments. Trick me once, shame on you. Trick me twice, shame on me!

rsgates2 and our Israeli "allies"
[Read the article: Bush knew Saddam had no weapons of mass destruction]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Robert,
The Israelis are far more of a liability than an asset. With their brutal occupation of the Palestinians and apartheid policies, they have caused irreparable damage to the US in the Middle East and around the world (where it is assumed that Israeli policies are an extension of American policies due to the massive support the US provides to Israel)
"the thrust of US policy in the region derives almost entirely from domestic politics, and especially the activities of the ‘Israel Lobby’. Other special-interest groups have managed to skew foreign policy, but no lobby has managed to divert it as far from what the national interest would suggest, while simultaneously convincing Americans that US interests and those of the other country – in this case, Israel – are essentially identical."
....
"Unlike the US, where people are supposed to enjoy equal rights irrespective of race, religion or ethnicity, Israel was explicitly founded as a Jewish state and citizenship is based on the principle of blood kinship. Given this, it is not surprising that its 1.3 million Arabs are treated as second-class citizens, or that a recent Israeli government commission found that Israel behaves in a ‘neglectful and discriminatory’ manner towards them. Its democratic status is also undermined by its refusal to grant the Palestinians a viable state of their own or full political rights."

We owe it to these brave soldiers to dicsuss the politics of the war
[Read the article: "The war as we saw it"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What an amazing piece of writing explaining so lucidly the absurdity of the mission these brave and committed soldiers have been asked to undertake. Being professional soldiers, they didn't want to discuss the politics of the war. This leaves it up to ordinary people to tell the truth.
The missing elephant in the room has been the role of the neocons and the Israel Lobby who played a critical role (perhaps the most critical of all) in bringing about this war for the benefit of a foreign nation and who are yet pushing relentlessly for another war (see http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/pages/rosnerBlog.jhtml?itemNo=903360)
"It [the Israel Lobby] also wants America to help Israel remain the dominant regional power. The Israeli government and pro-Israel groups in the United States have worked together to shape the administration’s policy towards Iraq, Syria and Iran, as well as its grand scheme for reordering the Middle East.
Pressure from Israel and the Lobby was not the only factor behind the decision to attack Iraq in March 2003, but it was critical. Some Americans believe that this was a war for oil, but there is hardly any direct evidence to support this claim. Instead, the war was motivated in good part by a desire to make Israel more secure."

It would be funny if it wern't so tragic
[Read the article: Mission accomplished -- for Iran]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]With the loss of over a million Iraqi lives and thousands of American lives, and with the displacement of millions of Iraqis, this tragic war has destroyed Iraq and with it much of America's moral and economic power around the world.
It is ironic that the neocons and Israel Lobby, who worked so hard to bring about this war through misinformation and deception, have only succeeded in giving Iran the strategic dominance that it couldn't achieve through its own war with Iraq. Now they are trying to correct this mistake by getting the US into a even more disastrous war with Iran. Hopefully, people can see through this.

David Wurmsur calls for Israel to start an incident to get the US entangled in War with Iran
[Read the article: Turning Ahmadinejad into public enemy No. 1]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This is the same David Wurmsur who - along with other leading neocons and Israel Lobbyists - co-authored the infamous "Clean Break" report in 2000 where they explained to the right-wing Israeli government of Benyamin Netanyahu how Israel could enhance its strategic position by undoing Iraq (http://www.iasps.org/strat1.htm). Getting the US to fight this war - which it clearly had no reason to be in - helped Israel achieve its strategic objectives. These same guys are now desperately pushing for war on Iran.
Key Israel Lobby figures such as Joe Lieberman are working overtime to bring about this war for Israel. Naturally they don't come out and say this is a war for Israel but as always promote the war under false pretenses.
