The Neocons and the Israel Lobby have transformed the war on terror into a fake war that suits their twisted agendas. They will continue to take this war in directions that will INCREASE terrorism rather than reduce it- as they did in Iraq.
He was misled by the Neo-cons, the Israel Lobby and their Christian fundementalist buddies. They had him living in an alternate universe where Iraq had weapons of mass destruction ready to give to al-qaida and where Saddam was responsible for 9/11!
The neocons, many of whom having close ideological links with Israel's fascist Likud party, succeeded in what they set out to do from the start: Implement the Israeli right-wing views of giving Israel a strategic advantage in reshaping its "realm" as they themselves outlined in "A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm" http://www.iasps.org/strat1.htm co-authored by leading neocons (Richard Perle, James Colbert, Charles Fairbanks, Jr., Douglas Feith, Robert Loewenberg, David Wurmser, and Meyrav Wurmser), for the Netanyahu government.
Sadly, America is now stuck with the consequences of this foolish and destructive policy!

Well said! Many people, including myself, wanted so much to believe Bush after 9/11 as he seemed to project such clarity of vision at the time! At least Matt has had the courage to say he had been wrong!
The Neocons and the Israel Lobby want, more than anything else, to use US military power to enhance Israel's strategic stand in the Middle East. The last thing they want to see is the prospect of peace lest it reduces the chances of war with Iran; a war they have been working for long and hard.
The Neocons and the Israel Lobby are very concerned that Pelosi's attempts to inject some sanity and diplomacy into American foreign policy might interfere with the goal they have worked so hard for since their "success" in invading Iraq to enhance Israel's strategic standing in the region: War with Iran. This explains their venom when attacking Pelosi.
In the future, with a democratic president, peace may be possible in the Middle East. This, however, assumes the future president can stand up to the Israel Lobby and their Christian fundamentalist allies. As Jimmy Carter said, the Israel Lobby is certainly not interested in peace and it will smear any candidate/president who tries to work for peace.
"Realname" why do you try to cast my criticism of the Israel Lobby/Neocons - who brought us the Iraq war and are working overtime to bring us a war with Iran- into an attack on Jews? The Lobby has, for some reason that is difficult to fathom, allied itself with the most extreme fascist warmongering forces in Israel (e.g. Likud, the settler colonists and Israel Beitenu) that openly advocate "endless conflict" and the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from their land. Surely this does not represent the views of most American Jews!
The Neocons/Israel Lobby don't want to see any attempt to deescalate the conflict or bring about peace succeed. Hence, their venom toward Pelosi.

Sadly much of our pop culture is an endless repetition of two themes: sex and violence in ever increasing doses. No wonder we are numb to the human suffering caused by wars around the world or the goth subculture that is thriving amongst the young. I am sick of this and don't want to watch another movie where people -or Zombies for that matter- get blown up to pieces by a sexy woman!
On a brighter note, I watched recently the "World's Fastest Indian". What a great movie! I loved how Anthony Hopkins character, Burt Munro, got to travel through parts of America and meet ordinary people. Their interactions - brief, open and unassuming - is a reminder of how great movies are built on human relationships and adventure. No-one got blown up or cut to pieces in that movie!
Most of the main stream media caters to the extreme right wing/neocon/Israel Lobby world view. Thank God for the Internet!
Sugarman continues to spew hatred against the Palestinian refugees who were ethnically cleansed by the Zionists when the state of Israel was established. As if it is not enough that these people were driven out of their land, bombed and massacred ad infinitem for wanting to go back to their farms and villages (remember the Sabra and Shatila massacre of thousands of women and children that took place as the Israeli army "guarded" the refugee camps).
