The Titanic Sailed a Long Distance-

Because the American electorate has been so incredibly stupid. Neocons would simply represent anything as truth and continue to repeat it over and over until millions believed it.

They continued to do this until their bubble burst.

The ultimate responsibility for our present predicament lies squarely in the laps of those who enabled this administration to present out right falsehoods as truth.

The party is finally over.

The Senator Had a Choice

He was already on the outs with most of the neo-cons and there were threats that many would sit out the election rather than vote for him.

Enter the out of nowhere choice of Gov. Palin. Immediate rejoicing by almost all of the radical right. Rove, Limbaugh, Hannity, Dobson, Kristol, etc., etc.

"She's a Breath of Fresh Air", "She's Re-energized the Party".

Unfortunately for Sen. McCain, the majority of the electorate does not share the views or the enthusiasm of the above mentioned political hacks.

Wrong choice Senator.

Turned over trash cans.

The Weather Underground that I recall ran on Chicago's streets wearing handkerchiefs as masks and overturning trash cans on every corner they passed. They also tried to shock people with outrageous statements to get attention for their anti-war agenda. They were mostly upper middle class college students who were foolhardy enough to put their unprotected skulls within range of the clubs of Mayor Daley's goons.

Gov. Palin is a pleasant person but she does not possess the necessary experience and intelligence required for the high office she sought. In addition, her capacity for learning is restricted by her religious beliefs. The fact that she was immediately endorsed by people such as Limbaugh, Dobson, and Hannity make her unacceptable to any progressive voter.

Ms.Paglia seems to be confused.

A Closer Look at Michelle Obama

A very well written and thought provoking article.

Walsh on Defense

It is unfortunate that watchable programs so very often provide a forum for hater/propagandists such as Hitchens and Morris. These persons obsess over the Clinton's and spend a great deal of their time developing a stream of assertions that do not merit any response. Any intelligent viewer will quickly become aware of the vitriol and undisguised hated that resides within these men.

They only do damage with those who fail to discern the difference between an objective opinion and a relentless agenda.

Ms. Walsh did a good job in a difficult situation. I would have spent most of my time discrediting Mr. Hitchens-a more enjoyable task.

Waste of Time

Reading Ms. Paglia is a waste of time, and writing about her is an even bigger waste of time-so I won't.

Israel's Message

Israel is sending the Palestinians a very simple and very painful message. It is, stop those who will never make peace with Israel, or suffer the consequences.

Those individuals, Hamas, cannot remain in Gaza doing their usual thing. They have to be forced out of the area by the Palestinians who desire peace. It is no longer possible to not be involved and continue to survive in Gaza. The terrorists have to be rejected by their own people. Their actions bring death and destruction to the innocents.

When Hamas is gone peace will be possible. If the legacy of hate continues, there can never be peace.

Imagine This

Since we all seem to be in a wistful mood, lets imagine the following.

Imagine if the Arab contributors to the Palestinians demanded the destruction of the refugee camps and earmarked that the billions that were given(over the past sixty years) be used to build homes and schools instead of buying arms.

Imagine if Yasser Arafat cared more for his people than his Paris bank account.

Imagine if there were not a group of people amongst the Palestinians who are intractable and will never accept Israel as a neighbor.

If you can imagine all that, you might be able to imagine peace in the region.

But, alas, it would only be meanderings of a mind that has been altered by some substance.

Keeping Your Enimies Close

These are the very people who rubber stamped every move of the former President and Vice President. They objected to NOTHING, including the war, the illegalities, and the profligate spending that has put this country into a quagmire of misery.

The President has made much of working together to solve problems and by meeting with the Republicans he has taken the initiative.

He should, however, never forget that the Republican goal is to undermine him in any way possible, win back lost seats, and one day, the Presidency. You cannot make nice with sworn enemies.

Perhaps the President should screen Indiana Jones in his new theater and see just how fast Indie got out of the snake pit.

Eight Good Years

Bill Clinton gave this country eight good years. During his two terms he and his wife were relentlessly attacked by the duplicitous right. Everything he attempted to accomplish was subverted by any means possible.

The constant dis-information worked and Limbaugh, Kristol, et.al got their wish, 'The Decider'.

Eight years of unmitigated disaster followed, and the Republicans were finally unmasked so that even the most obtuse of the electorate could see clearly what they are. The result is, that most of them were kicked out, and now there is some new quality leadership.

The tatters of what is left of the Republican Party will attempt to do the same to Obama as they did to Clinton. This time it will be more difficult.

Forget the Republicans

One only has to reflect upon the last eight years to understand the true nature of the Republicans.

Right now they are like a Pit Bull that has been defeated in an illegal dog fight. They've been cleaned up and dress in suits but the rage still remains under the surface. There really is nothing redeemable about them and they were deservidly cast out for grave injustices against the American people.

Forget any kind of partnership with the Republicans it simply will not happen. Their only goal is to regain lost seats and ultimately the Presidency. They can only be successful by undermining President Obama by any means possible.
