Yeah, Big Suprise

I don't live far from Clarksdale in a neighboring state and frankly that scene can be repeated all over the South where bible thumpers rule and there are few abortion clinics.

I have pretty much no patience for those dewey eyed protesters/believers who drag their children off to the clinics because they really do not give a rat's ass about the babies once they are born. The truth is the pro-life movement wants to condemn women and their children to a life of defeat and misery because somebody had sex.

I will agree to give up the right to safe and affordable abortion when we have free universal health care and education for every child born in America. I also agree that Roe vs Wade has been "technically" dead for quite some time down here. I don't even bother to defend myself in arguements when people call me " baby killer" because I support abortion rights I just say "Yeah, next..."

At the same time I feel frustruated with the mainline abortion rights advocates even though I also write my little checks because it is so obvious that Roe v Wade is over and in many way it will add to the abortion rights movement when it officially ceases. I would rather engage in the fight to start the fight over again on new grounds and terms that to keep fighting the same "ground hog day" style battles in which for some stupid reason abortion rights has been defined as a necessary "evil" even by supporters but nobody thinks it is a crime against humanity for children to grow up poor, neglected, and doomed to repeat a similar mistake once they become teenagers. Nuff said.

Dumbass

I never travel with things I might regret losing other than a passport and I always keep it with me. I can't imagine just leaving 1,000 dollars around in any house no matter how well I know the host. It puts an uncomfortable obligation on them.

That boyfriend is just not too bright and likely neither is the girl who wrote in to protest. I wonder if there are already some dynamics between the three of them which is why she defended him so hotly.

I agree there might have also been some kind of con going on but why automatically "blame the help" so to speak. The girl sounds spoiled, upper class, irresponsible and quick to deflect. Sorry, I don't mean to imply all wealthy folks are like that.

She just does not want to admit Dear Old Dad was right and knows how to stand on protocol.

Defending Pete

I love and live with both dogs and cats. I was pretty suprised to see all of the attacks on Pete. Did we all watch the same program. The local redneck culture was clearly in support of the ignorant and cruel treatment of the dogs. I wanted to hit that woman who said she felt "guilty" about selling dogs when she knew they were likely pets. I thought to myself ok Bitch then don't do it. We can all debate whether Pete actually enjoyed this numbing and isolated experience and read into things that may or may not have been present in his psyche but his methods worked. Those nasty people lost their property and had to pay at least some restitution. I thought it was also interesting that all of the attacks have been on Pete and not the folks in Last Chance For Animals who clearly supported his tactics and appears at least as disengaged as he did. Pete is a hero. Maybe he isn't a warm cuddly, gee shucks kinda guy with 2.2 kids and a lab frolicking around him but he might be somewhere else in America busting some other nasty motherfucker. I was interested to note nobody seemed overly critical of our government's sluggish response in nailing the perpetrators. Without Pete the case would have never been made.

Hockey

Although I am an HNL fanatic I adore the purity of Olympic hockey and I had a sinking feeling when I watched Canada win two crap games. I did not agree with theory that the guys who won four years ago would win again. Hockey is poetry and art when it is truly a team sport and my team just plain forgot that. They deserved to lose. They had no heart. They were a touch arrogant and I hope the Canadian press just roasts them. I would rather have seen us send college kids frankly because they would have at least cared and tried. I am a bit embarrased as a Canadian because it wasn't the out and out losing that bothered me as much as the flatness of their play. Well, at least I can ruin my sleep watching the curling matches.
