RE: timbuktom's post

May I refer you to the Supreme Court decision Brown v. Board of Education, 347 U.S. 483 of 1954? What you describe is a "separate but equal" paradigm that this decision outlaws.

Of course, we now live in Bizarro USA, so it may happen sooner than we think. And then we shall see how quickly "separate" trumps "equal". Basically as soon as Southern white trash and money are involved.

Original article: We'll take that as a "no"

And the Lying Sack of Cute Does It Again!

Even given ever-diminishing expectations for this vacuous mouthpiece for this vacuous president, Dana Perino has hit a new low of stupidity with that response.

Thankfully, it looks like a few of us aren't buying it any more.

Like the bumper sticker says:

I Fear the US' Death as a Democracy Was Long Ago...

I mark its demise the day of the 2000 election, when a bloodless coup d'état took place. And that's how it will be named in future history books.

But this ongoing debacle just reinforces how low the US has sunk. Our democracy is long-dead and rotting.

It is crystal-clean that corporations have MORE rights than ordinary citizens.

Why aren't we marching in the streets shouting to take our country back?!?

Good Article, and @JM Walker....

Thanks, JM Walker, for a good chuckle for the day!

Can you imagine happy couples going to City Hall and asking the security guard:

"Hi, we're here to get our Super Sweet Fun Time Intergalactic Hootenanny Registration Form. What floor is it on?!"

If it's called that, I'll be first in line to get it!

What They Said...!

I'm so glad that articulate, passionate writers have already responded to the two pages of complete and utter balls that is this ridiculous article.

Of course, the Hilary-bots came roaring in with their meticulously-compiled talking points.

And THAT is the problem with modern politics. No diplomacy, no serious dialogue, no peace.

It's WIN, WIN, WIN AT ALL COSTS. It's DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO GET A "WIN" LISTED NEXT TO YOUR NAME, NO MATTER HOW MUCH COLLATERAL DAMAGE IT CAUSES TO PEOPLE WHO BELIEVED YOU AND SUPPORTED YOU.

It's "feeling for the poor and downtrodden", then fucking up "Health Care Reform" and then pushing "Welfare Reform" and "NAFTA" as "helping the little people". It's claiming you're for "equality for everyone" then fucking up "equality in the military" and then pushing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", and then saying AGAIN how much you're for "equality for everyone" and then backing a "Defense of Marriage Act" with your whole, black little heart.

I support Barack Obama for representing a change from scorched-earth politics. Senator Clinton's husband had MUCH less political experience than Senator Obama when he became president. Frankly, I don't think that much of Bill Clinton's régime, but when compared to the complete and utter fuckwadness of the current resident of the White House, Clinton looks pretty good.

Still-- I vote for Obama because I don't like Hillary Clinton's politics, her triangulations and her overwhelming political baggage.

If Barbara Boxer were running, however, I'd fall all over myself to vote for her. If Barbara JORDAN or Shirley Chisholm were still alive, I'd vote for either in a heartbeat.

I'm not a "dude" who can't vote for a woman. I'm a free-thinking progressive who just has a lot of trouble with Hillary Clinton and all that she and her husband represent.

Lookie, Lookie!!

Someone moved to a NEW page of Hillary-bot Talking Points (c)!!

As I've heard it explained by feminists and progressives within the state of Illinois, they were fully behind Obama's "present" votes on certain pieces of legislation that combined "good" laws with "bad" laws (ahh, the amendment process is a bitch mistress!).

False argument. You don't know what you're talking about. Move on. You have NOTHING, don't you?!

Look, we have no illusions here. The vast majority of us who are supporting Obama WILL support Hillary in the general election. Unhappily. And mark my words: IF she's our candidate AND she wins (not at all assured), I WILL be watching her. I don't forget OR forgive what she and her husband and the DLC have wrought on our party and our country: Republican Lite.

And for those people voting for Hillary JUST because she's a woman and they don't see another viable woman candidate out there: Condaleeza Rice certainly will be alive for several more years. And all the indications are that she's a woman. If she runs, will you be running out to vote for her? She's got the right genitalia to meet your SOLE criterion for the job, it would appear. If the Repubs have a mini-revolt and throw HER out there as their candidate, will you be voting for her instead of for Obama? It sounds like it to me.

That's not feminism. That's politics as a Lifetime Movie.

Another Out-of-Touch Right-Winger Roars Impotently....

... roaring in the wild against a world that rejects him.

Oh, speaking of old out-of-touch right-wingers: William F. Buckley died today.

Emphysema. A slow, painful, torturous way to die.

The avuncular pseudo-intellectual image everyone has of this evil old fuck glosses over his history as a virulent racist with fascist leanings whose National Review was avowedly anti-civil rights over much of its history, mostly due to its founder's belief that people of color were intellectually inferior to white aristocrats.

His family will miss him. As for me? Not so much.

A Large Vocabulary and Perspicacity Don't Always Go Hand-in-Hand....

In Buckley's time, memorization of the polysyllabic entries in Roget's Thesaurus might have impressed the intellectually lazy within the conservative movement as well as more left-leaning outsiders.

But his fulsome verbosity obscured the moral and intellectual bankruptcy of his politics.

In other words, his florid language merely served to hide the winded natterings of a right-wing asshole whose death happily eliminates a useless source of greenhouse gases.

I Guess Reality and Truth Are Indeed Dead

Although I do have to say, in the midst of my mourning the death of Reality and Truth, I can't stop laughing at the vacuity of this putz's pudgy ass face.

Who wants to bet this tenth-wit got the shit beaten out of him DAILY by the neighborhood kids?

And WHY does the rest of the world have to pay for these guys' "sissy-boy" neuroses?!
