Stephanie Zacharek's review is the best I have read about this film.
I admit I love DK and even sent him a campaign donation. Have you? I was very angry at Tim Russert for his cheap shot in asking him about a UFO he once saw. "UFO" is a buzz word that sets off all kinds of stereotypes, something which Mr. Russert knew full well. Instead of asking a serious question, Russert chose to use his option to make DK look foolish, when tens of thousands of people have actually seen UFOs all around the world. Which, I should not even have to mention, is not the same thing as seeing alien life forms. Russert was blatantly blowing off DK as a nut job, when, as you say, DK has really made the most sense in his discourse on our American social values and economy, again and again. And, considering the measely little time he has been been alotted in the debates, DK has held his own and shown a great sense of humor even managing to come back with a Bush joke after being taken off guard by Russert's below the belt question. Paul has made headlines in his record breaking on-line donations, let's make a new record for DK.
The major printed press and tv media make it a habit of ignoring and undermining the ideas of candidates that dare not to be mainstream and who have committed the sin of being less known and who have less campaign money. Perhaps it comes from an intrinsic condescension and mistrust of the intelligence of the general public and so they take it upon themselves to protect us common folk from actually having to think for ourselves about out of the box ideas. Fortunately, more and more people are going on-line and learning how to research and find out the facts for themselves, and, people from all parts of the country are hashing out diverse political points of view on discussion boards. A wonderful sharing of ideas and learning process is going on in this country. Perhaps, not this time around, but hopefully by the next election, this will have real a impact on the quality of coverage because too many people will be well informed enough not to be easily duped by big time editorialist and this kind of paternalistic press culture will be a thing of the past.
There is method to the madness. The reason for Hillary's seemingly inane comments about dropping the bomb on Iran became clear when we learned she had to sock $11.5 million of her own money into the campaign. That was a very special bomb meant for a small number of very wealthy, very influential Jews who are fixated on the security of Israel and who will hopefully bail her campaign out. The racial bomb was dropped because she has nothing to gain from the black vote at this point. Blacks have dumped her so she is free to diss them in the hopes of frightening poor uneducated whites into voting for her.
Feeling confident in her own ability to morph into any persona she wishs, in the unlikely event she wins the nomination, Hillary will simply morph into her Basic Black Clinton Candidate Hillary. For Hillary who has the sang froid of your garden variety sociopath, and believes in nothing except her own superiority and the importance of gaining power, this is an easy can do.
Well George,
Probably your first three page plan would have been just the ticket to jumpstart the market after all. A Machiavellian Prince of Funds who could finesse and finagle Wall Street and make the dirty deals needed to do the job.
But, alas, no one trusted you and your minions. So instead everyone put their fingers in the pudding and made it a beaurocratic web, a wasteful nightmare of hurdles and hoops.
Why was that?
Because this is what happens when you mislead a nation about making pre-emptive war and run the White House on the premise of "reality is what we say it is".
You were saying?
Didn't you mom tell you that no one will believe you and stand behind after you lie to them?
You are to blame, so go in shame.
I AM NOT STUPID AND UNIFORMED. I am against the bail out. Please understand I do know what is at stake. It is our soul as a people. I do not want to give our tax money and sell out future generations to a huge deficiit, to bail out (or, if you rather, ala pelosi buy in) to the selfish immoral criminals who milked the markets with these mortage backed security derivative shell games for selfish gain. The multi billionaire who profited from this deregulated free market should be the ones who bail it out. Aside from Warren Buffet we have not heard one word from the private sector.
Some of us still have that less than glamorous plebian sense of right and wrong. And, we are willing to take the hit, yes, stand up and take the responsiblity of our savings being jeopardized in order to establish some structure of morality in our society and restore a sense of dignity in this country for the average man.
It is unfortunate, in a way, that Sarah is not yet ready to be a chief executive of the nation. Considering the mess we are in financially, Sarah was so happy and sunny, that it was like watching a Busby Berkeley '30s musical. Her youth and optimism enlivens our American Dream of a free wheeling open world where opportunities are never ending. That is something our psyche yearns for in bleak times.
Guess what I'm a thinkin is that, lots of folks feel, when those hard times are acomin, and those dark clouds start agatherin, a pretty girl is like a melody who's smile will cheer us up a whole lot, you betcha.
