    First, elephantman -- While I am an Obama supporter, this post applies to everyone of all political stripes. I don't generally watch youtube (I have used it to see videos of horses that were for sale and to watch Joan last week when she was on Chris Matthews in the aftermath of the RFK comments).

    That being said, there is a huge difference between a candidate being caught on tape saying something offensive (as in the Macaca moment) -- particularly when that was in the context of a public campaign rally versus someone who was tangetally associated with Obama's campaign saying something in a church that was not a campaign appearance of any kind (for obama or anyone else).

    @jbeldman (I'm sorry -- I know I'm butchering your screen name)

    While I agree with your point that privacy has always been an illusion (I have lived in a small town similar to Mayberry) -- at least our every waking moment wasn't being recorded with the intent of catching each of us being human and saying something stupid. Personally, I find Father F a total prick and he probably doesn't deserve the audience and place of authority he has been given.

    However, I guess I'm also not comfortable that everything that happens when I leave my house is fair game for analysis and evidence to be used against me and every person I know. I'm sure that in any given church or gathering of people, someone can find something that they find offensive. Do you really want to be living in that kind of a fish bowl? Have you ever criticized your employer or your boss in private? If someone recorded it and put it on Youtube to be emailed to your boss and you were reprimanded or fired, would you accept that as "well, I shouldn't have said it if I didn't want it to be made public" or would you be angry and creeped out that you can't even let off some steam without having it turned against you.

  • Is there an online petition to ban Hillary from VP ticket?

    I'm more interested in signing that one. Considering she didn't even have the decency to congratulate Obama as the presumptive nominee and is basically trying to hold the democratic party hostage for her own political and egotistical ambitions.

    She doesn't deserve to be on the ticket considering how publically she is airing this battle. How can we expect her to be a team player if she is already trying to strong-arm him and she doesn't even have the job... or even the offer.
