Atheist? Scientist?
[Read the article: The believer]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Let's understand something. Scientists do not need to be atheists. Indeed, more than a few biologists who adhere to Darwin's theory of evolution, are not atheists. I will merely cite Kenneth Miller, professor of biology at Brown University, devout Roman Catholic, and ardent attacker of "intelligent design." Prof. Miller was one of the primary anti-ID witnesses in the Dover, PA, trial, in which the federal district court judge determined that "intelligent design" was nothing more than religious "creationism" warmed over.
And Miller's scientific reasoning for refusing to adhere to "intelligent design" should be clear to anyone who perused his publications linked to at his web page http://www.millerandlevine.com/km/evol/index.html
I'll cite another example: it was the Belgian Catholic priest Lemaitre who is generally credited with an early formulation of the Big Bang Theory. A Catholic priest? Yes.
One does not need to be an atheist in order to be a scientist. One only needs to have a open mind to be a scientist.

Cover
[Read the article: Exclusive Daily Download: "Jet Boy Jet Girl," Elton Motello]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]According to Wiki, this is the original version. The French version may have been released earlier (I don't know what the respective release dates were), but it used the backing tracks of the Motello version.
I listened to the Motello version on iTunes download (bought the Waters record) and the itunes preview of the French version, and the Motello version was far superior. The iTunes preview of the french version was very harsh.

This is rich...
[Read the article: RNC has already handed over some documents, may withhold others]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...the RNC is essentially claiming that it is part of the executive branch of the US government, and, thus, is able to claim that documents in its possession are subject to executive privilege.
Just how silly can they get? When a document leaves the executive branch, it is no longer subject to executive privilege.

Your point is interesting, but...
[Read the article: The true cost of doing business in China]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...you ignore the reason for the Pure Food and Drug Act passed in the US in the early 20th century. Consumers were largely incapable of determining what food, from where, caused their illneses, and so they wouldn't know who to sue. And as a result the US government stepped in to supposedly regulate a minimum level of quality.
Obviously, the US government isn't doing that with food imports from China. Neither, for that matter, is the Chinese government regulating the quality of its exports.

A nit...
[Read the article: True confessions]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...if you aren't a citizen (which you aren't when you take the naturalization exam) you don't have a representative. You may live in a district that has a representative. But you cannot vote for or against him or her; hence, you have no representative.
