Why Cowardly?
[Read the article: Obama declines debate invite, so Clinton will go it alone]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Why is it cowardly of the Obama campaign to decline the debate invitation? He's already done a kabillion debates already. Another one won't add anything to the public's knowledge, just more fodder for the news cable channels to cycle endlessly sound bites and uninformative clips. Obama is better off talking to voters one-on-one, meeting them in person, and traveling to parts of the country where he needs to promote himself. That's smart strategy - certainly smarter than giving the Clinton campaign free media. Also, the Democratic party does not need another reenactment of the Myrtle Beach debate, at which their top tier candidates are seen bickering while John McCain shores up conservative support.

Debates are useless
[Read the article: Obama declines debate invite, so Clinton will go it alone]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Personally, I think Obama should engage in another debate or two, just to hone his chops against McCain who is not so good at debates, either), should Obama win the nomination. Beyond that, like I said earlier, the debates don't serve the voters well at all. At least not at this stage. The last debate was miraculously informative, relative to the others, but not much more so.

Won't Take the Bait
[Read the article: Obama declines debate invite, so Clinton will go it alone]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm no obamabot. Indeed, at my blog and in my cartoons, I dish it out on Obama as much as Clinton. But the debates are frustratingly superficial. Asking Clinton, "Diamonds or pearls?" Asking Kucinich if he saw UFOs? Asking Obama if Bill Clinton was the "first black President" (without noting Toni Morrison's irony)?
Please.

Whatever Works
[Read the article: Anonymous no more]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Anything that might promote civil discourse on issues that matter over stupid trash talking is greatly appreciated.
Wouldn't it be great if the candidates for President acted that way?

It's Not Over...
[Read the article: Should Clinton stay in the race?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I say this as a voter who favors Obama, I think Clinton should stay in as long as she has support and a realistic chance to win the nomination. Why presume that she can't win Texas and Ohio? This shouldn't be a cakewalk for anyone; indeed, the candidates need to earn their votes from us. We don't owe them anything. So Clinton and Obama should keep fighting the good fight.

Am I The Only One?
[Read the article: It's 3 a.m. Who do you want answering the phone?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Every time I see that commercial, I immediately think of the lyrics from The Rolling Stones' "Get Off of My Cloud."
He says, its three a.m., theres too much noise
Dont you people ever wanna go to bed?
Just cause you feel so good, do you have
To drive me out of my head?
Which would be kinda a funny way for the President to answer the red phone. "Dude, it's early. WTF?"
Nevermind.

Vidcap Plea
[Read the article: Hillary Clinton's tough week]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hey, Joan: You are smart, witty, insightful. And a telegenic, attractive person. Yet the people who handle your web video commentary freeze frame you consistently in a goofy mouth-open moment. Few people look good in mid-sentence, so please don't take this as a criticism of you (under similar circumstances, I know I'd look like I was about to burp or eat someone's child). Is it possible to get a more dignified freeze frame equal to this woman's stature, please?
