Original article: Those liberal elitists

Do they even understand?

Dear Alex,

Your article was so onpoint and very very true. Unfortunately, I know for a fact that most republicans would not even know who you are talking about. They don't read about their candidates and they don't care. They love Palin because she is sarcastic and makes fun of people. That is part of a culture that makes themselves feel good by putting other people down.

They do not realize that neither George Bush or McCain would even consider being nice to them in real life. They are being used and it makes people who have nothing feel important to be told that very very elitist Republicans care about them. I know NO Republicans who know the truth about what kind of a man John McCain is. That he dumped his wife for a wealthy beautiful blond because he felt like it.They don't know that Giuliani did the same thing or that he is the one you are talking about who dresses in drag for a parade. His sneer puts him right with them.

I hope John McCain remembers how many government planes he has crashed and how much they cost. He obviously didn't care. My husband was an Air Force pilot, I know that 5 planes means you don't fly very well but had the pull to graduate from pilot training. If people would only read. Sad, sad world.

Right as rain....

A sane voice in this crazy world where the Republican party is running a campaign that is based on ridicule, derisiveness and lies. How very sad, and we wonder why our country is falling apart at the seams. The people in charge of the Republican party only care that they will be able to continue to let the corporate world run the USA. Soon there will be no middle class (well, according to McCain you have to make 5 million dollars a year to be middle class anyway). There will be the workers and the very wealthy and that is what the Republicans want. The really sad thing is the disillusioned masses who believe they are part of that very wealthy group. Sorry people, even if you make 100,000 dollars a year, you are part of the workers. Try to understand that.

Camille

I am so glad I have yet to open your latest book on poetry. It can be returned and I did not realize you don't actually think straight.

sarah and todd

This whole thing is getting very very creepy. I can't even think about it anymore. It makes me sick to picture them in the vice presidency ....or the white house. I bet McCain is privately shaking his head.

Disgust

I am completely and thoroughly disgusted by this group and their policies. They are racists plain and simple. That is the reason behind any anti Obama sentiment among Jewish voters.

Original article: A call to arms

a place to rest safely....

I thank you Anne for letting me let go of the downward spiral. I am only reading good things and answering all bad things with very precise letters and emails that are wise.

I am stunned the country has come to this and as much as I cannot even believe the person who is nameless is nominated, deep inside, I am not surprised. I too, live in Georgia. Racism is still alive and well and the real reason people ...... many who I know ....... will vote for the empty skirt and the playboy who crashed 5 airplanes in the navy.

Original article: Was Palin's e-mail hacked?

of course not!

Sounds like a secret release of Palin's emails by the McCain campaign. Business as usual.

I'm waiting for the really big sympathy grabber that will come closer to the election.

creepy....

McCain's campaign gets creepier and creepier and more out of touch every single day. This is a man who thinks we are stupid or he never would have picked Palin and now he thinks he might pull an upset on the wings of a shotgun wedding of Palin's daughter. Is this a soap opera? What a foolish man.

touching

This is such a beautiful article . This is the way I will think of Molly Ivins even though I have only known her through her writings. She must have been bigger than life.

Original article: The "L" word

What did they expect?

I am so sick of this. Now the Republican party just can't figure out what happened and why McCain is doing so badly this late in the campaign. Gee, could it be because they permitted a man who is extremely obnoxious in every possible way to end up with the nomination? Someone had to help him along. He certainly did not get the nod all by himself. Everyone in the Senate knows what McCain's personality is like. This is nothing new. All who know him are aware that he has a violent temper and an unpleasantness about him that he, himself, thinks is charming. Did they think that the average person in this country was unable to see that? We just aren't stupid....sorry. Even the way he has treated his wife in front of reporters should have been enough to warn their party that this was a man who could not control anything, much less himself.

McCain may very well find some miracle and come back in this campaign but right now many many people have had enough of him and his sidekick. They are both sarcastic and nasty .... why would a majority of the people like them even if they were qualified?

Original article: Levi Johnston speaks

sorry.....

I do feel sorry for them but they are putting themselves out there. We are not saying they must speak. This is a young man who, if he was black, the Republican party would have a field day ripping him apart. Imagine FOX! We Democrats are really too fair for our own good, and we are unlikely to go on and on about this. I am sure that these kids have been left to their own devices for years and have had very little supervision or activity revolving around them or their schooling. It's too bad for them but I have no sympathy for Sarah Palin. What a terrible example of a mother.
