  • Sisters Unite Behind Your Candidate!

[Read the article: Why I'm still not for Hillary Clinton]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

There are only two viable candidates for the democratic nomination now, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. As much as some might want it otherwise, that's where we realistically stand now. If we are truly dedicated to furthering the societal or otherwise position of women, it's time for all the sisters to circle the wagons and support the only women that's on the ballot. And don't speak to me more about qualifications, because we all know she's qualified!

  • Redundant

[Read the article: Mukasey's radical worldview is now the norm]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I think everyone knew what they were getting when Mukasey was confirmed. While Mukasey may keep a tighter ship than Gonzales, he's never going to go after his boss, period. Those who voted for his confirmation did so because they either knew that he would protect the administration, or that they weren't going to get another choice because Bush would simply appoint someone to fill in until his term is up. All this was already settled when he was confirmed, so why is Congress bothering to rehash this issue with Mukasey. As to the destruction of the CIA torture tapes, all Mukasey has done is assure that the investigation is limited locally to the determination of whether or not a crime has been committed. Again serving his boss. Congress should have insisted on the appointment of an independent counsel. Because certainly nothing is going to come out of this DOJ investigation.

  • Nah!

[Read the article: Why do conservatives really find the Obama campaign "scary"?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Only someone who could find George W. Bush even vaguely appealing, might find a bunch of performers pitching their man "scary"!

  • The MONSTER That We Have Been Waiting For!!!

[Read the article: Tucker Carlson unintentionally reveals the role of the American press]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Yes, Hillary Clinton is the MONSTER that we have been waiting for!

The Obama campaign's nasty backbiting manipulation of the media is coming back to haunt them.

  • Myth More Important Than Truth

[Read the article: Tucker Carlson unintentionally reveals the role of the American press]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

While I agree that at the core self-centered, self-interest motivates the media elites, I also believe that at the conscious level they rationalize their behavior as "in the good of the country." This seems to be the ethos held, and the more strongly expressed the higher up the food chain you go. I first observed this in the media in the 60's in reporting on the Free Speech Movement at Berkeley and then later the Vietnam antiwar movement. Without exception dissension on the part of the established media from the political establishment was taboo. Only after the positions held by these movements became accepted by the population at large, and eventually by the power structures, did the media follow suit.

  • Balance Rules the Day

[Read the article: House Democrats reject telecom amnesty, warrantless surveillance]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

While it is good to still be cautious, I feel the tide is finally turning! The House has come up with an intelligent alternative. We'll see what happens in the Senate.

  • Both Not Knowing and Knowing Wrongly!

[Read the article: Seduced by the Dalai Lama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I don't know about Pico Iyer's biography, but your post shows that you are ignorant about Buddhism and the Dalai Lama.

  • Winner Take All!

[Read the article: The GOP attack plan for Hillary Clinton]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Whoever wins the Democratic nomination will be confronted with the Republican dirty tricks, no matter what John McCain says. It only makes matters worse for the Democrats to continue to grind their ax for the candidate that they support. The way these primaries have sorted out the two Democrats continue to be too close in electoral votes, Obama predominantly winning the caucuses and Clinton predominantly winning the open primary States. Let's stop pushing our personal agendas, and our personal candidate preferences, and acknowledge that the problem for the Democrats is in the system. The system that the Democrats use to determine their candidate for presidency is broken, and must be changed.

But what do we do now? Well, obviously the Democrats knew that there might be a problem like this one, and that's why they created the "superdelegates." Let's let the system that is in place now play itself out. Let's not play into the opposition's (Republicans) hand by labeling it as unfair. It is the system that we have for better or worse. And let's unite behind the ultimate Democratic candidate, even if they win by one vote. Because the alternative is having John McCain as our next president, and the continuation of the Iraq war for 100 years, and a continuation of tax cuts for the wealthy, and not having health care reform, etc., etc., etc.

  • Right On!

[Read the article: Whose fault is the Clinton-Obama stalemate?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Really excellent analysis of what is, and has, been going on! Everyone in this whole political process has continually been too self absorbed in their own process to objectively see what is going on, and continually pointing the finger at the other guy rather than figuring out and correcting the mistakes.

  • Dream On!!!!!

[Read the article: Why Clinton voters will come back to the fold]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Obama's misrepresentations of himself are catching up with him. His support of FISAl! His rejection of public campaign funding. But most of all his grin of self satisfaction. It's just the beginning of revealing who his really is.

  • "rigged for imposition of mass guilt"

[Read the article: Torture and the rule of law]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

In today's NYTimes, the editorial, The Shame of Postville, Iowa, further documents the trampling of the rule of law by the Bush administration in its current policy towards illegal immigrants.
