amnesty

Perhaps they could add amnesty for Barry bonds to the bill. It woudln't make it any more ridiculous than it already is.

Original article: Chris Matthews is right

From an Iowa Democrat and Obama supporter

I supported Obama in the Iowa caucuses but, like most Democrats I know, I feel we have a wonderful slate of candidates any of whom I would enthusiastically support.

That said, I watched some of the drivel on CNN and MSNBC prior to the polls closing. The absolute sneering malevolence of these pseudo-journalists towards Hilary and Bill Clinton was shocking. I'm sad to say that it was not surprising. I won't pretend to have an answer as to why New Hampshire voters so confounded the latest polling data but my "wild-ass guess" is that there was a severe backlash by New Hampshire women (HRC won this demographic handily compared to Iowa results) against the blatant misogyny we all witnessed in the press coverage of Hilary Clinton.

MR in Iowa.

Original article: CNN's John King responds

Remember what King said during airing of Bill Clinton campaign clip?

This occurred on CNN the day of the New Hampshire Primary. After a clip showing Bill Clinton's "fantasy world" comments, Jack Cafferty turned to John King and asked, "What was it you were saying during that clip? 'I did not have sex with that woman...'?"

King looked to me as though he were just tattled on. That was more telling to me of his lack of objectivity as a reporter. Cafferty lifted the curtain a little bit on the tittering class.

The Perfect Response

If the lapel pin question is brough up again, I would suggest that Obama respond...

"George Washington was elected in 1789 without a flag lapel pin. For 212 years the likes of Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, even Ronald Reagan were elected without flag lapel pins. In 2001, George W. Bush started wearing a flag lapel pin and for the past 7 years, we have entered into a disastrous war, crippled our national security apparatus, our foreign policy is in shambles and our economy is on the brink of a meltdown. If you want a president who will act just like George W. Bush right down to that patriotic lapel pin, vote for John McCain. If you want a president who will engage in serious policy work on your behalf, vote for me."

Obama/Clinton

I was a precinct captain for Obama in Iowa. While I haven't always agreed with Clinton's tactics, I respect her as a polititian and a patriot.

It's time for both to set aside egos and do what best for this country. Clearly, Obama/Clinton would be an unbeatable ticket. It would be a bonus for Obama to have that depth of experience at his disposal. Hilary is smart enough to know what a support role means but Obama is smart enough to take advantage of that experience.

Original article: Senate passes stimulus bill

Let them filibuster!

Here’s what I don’t understand. I thought only 51 votes were needed to pass leglislation in the Senate. Recently, the Senate has let operations come to a standstill if the minority party “threatens” to filibuster. If I were Harry Reid and Barack Obama, I’d say “Go ahead and filibuster!”. Let them rant and rave for as long as they can take the heat. Obama is pulling 60+% approval ratings and America has seen the Republicans bite his offered hand. The Republican leadership is polling somewhere in the 30’s. Again…let them filibuster! Let America watch them hold up the stimulus bill. If Harry Reid had any spine, he’d call their bluff. I guarantee they’d fold their filibustering tent in 20 minutes.
