...and deserves all of this extra special attention.
He lies about books he's written, saying he hasn't.
He is still presented as reasonable or moderate liberal, i.e., someone who speaks for the great unwashed mass of us.
So, he deserves to be cut off at the knees when he tries to re-write the history of what he can't escape having written, because it's part of the public record. Just a little spin... no one important is paying attention. Once that may have been true, but not any more.
That whole set of scandals in the 1990's (not just Monica, but Newt's takeover of congress, and shutting down the government, and the concerted efforts of so many to undo the results of an election)... is what made me into a political junkie. Before that I paid attention most of the time, but nothing like I have since then.
It's just a lot easier now. In the late 90s, the blogs we all love to read mostly didn't exist. Salon was here, and so was Joe Conason, but Krugman was not yet at the Times, which was still/already engaged in their own vendetta against Clinton. There was no Froomkin on WaPo. It was a very frustrating wasteland, with only that deluge of titillating news. Bread and Circuses.
As frustrating as things are now. I would not want to go back to that time. At least not without the internets. As we know them now.
I agree that the media love McCain, but the hard-core GOP are less enthralled, and the voters have other choices. And they know it.
South Carolina is probably going to be a big deal, especially if McCain doesn't do really well there. If that happens, this can all drag out even longer with no obvious front runner.
I keep thinking it's going to be Romney. Especially if it has to be brokered.
I agree, but if they can't determine the nominee during the primary process, and it has to be brokered, they won't get to decide; the corporatists will. And they won't want either McCain or Huckabee.
These are better posts from you... and this is a better (i.e., more interesting) direction for you on these comment threads... IMHO.
I suspect that Karl Rove still has some control over who (in the press) does or does not have that precious access to important sources... and maybe even the ability to have someone blackballed.
His role in controlling the press is probably far from over.
Edwards may not have a vote here, but he is allowed access to the senate floor, and his appearance there would still be a measure of support for Dodd.
At a minimum, he could provide Dodd with reading materials for the filibuster, and as a former trial lawyer, he's probably got some good stuff on hand.
It would also be one way for Edwards to break through the media's news block...
I think it can generate some real attention and passion for him if he took the lead on it, and it really does fit perfectly into his overall message - it's a very populist argument. That's the pitch that we've been making, and I'm hopeful it will get through.
...less "corporatist" than fighting against immunity for the telecomms.
She could simply have written: "Faust," but instead wrote a very lengthy (I mean really, really long) post.
I won't post an excerpt, but here is just one sentence:
"It's about the Faustian deal Obama made with Antoin "Tony" Rezko, spoken or in his own mind, who is at the epicenter of Barack Obama's political career, which has been laid out in article after article in the Chicago Sun-Times."

FYI... Taylor Marsh is on record as supporting Clinton; however, she also states that she could support Edwards, except that his candidacy is not there. She wonders, though, if he staying in the race, waiting for the shine on Obama to fade...
I just clicked on PowWow's "other letters" and found it that way...
What phone booths! I almost never see one...
...and now I'm wondering if that's because it's so much harder (or maybe less legal?) to gather data from them.
What do you think, Jim W?
(...and congratulations on your good health, btw!)
...and we're very glad that bebop-o is back among us.
Re: FISA, I added but then deleted a comment; time enough for it tomorrow.
...and most of you have already covered the important FISA issues.
I did send one heartfelt email to Edwards, even though I received three from Glenn and Jane. They really worked their email lists.
[Psst, WT & bystander, re: Jebbie's pony. Let's ask everyone to bring one for him to Netroots Nation. Ssssh, though, because it should be a surprise!]
...only Green & Black's.
The Maya Gold...

That's quite an endorsement of Green & Black's. I'll remember your story.
I don't have any similarly dramatic anecdotes, but I do share my weekly ration of Maya Gold with my friends and coworkers, as they need it. You can always tell.
For some reason, these bars last a lot longer than other brands; apparently, a little of something really good goes a lot farther.
Thanks for the links to emptywheel, who always makes things clearer.
A great summary before it happens of what we have to look forward to with Pluto in Capricorn! Ready or not-- structures will be transformed.
I follow such things, too, but rarely post about them.
Last time I did, a few weeks ago, it was more micro and less macro... just that I was beyond tired of so much Leo energy (Clinton, Bush (ASC), and now Obama), and ready for some problem-solving Gemini to be in charge (Dodd or Edwards).
Would you also agree that Hillary Clinton (Scorpio) might actually be the real change agent in the Democratic race? But that most of us just can't see it?
