This comment should be completely off-topic, but unfortunately there is a tangential connection.
A Leno re-run is on in the background. I wasn't really paying much attention to it, but just noticed that Leno announced "Sherri Shepherd!" He has just finished talking to Hugh Laurie.
Yes, that Sherri Shepherd, the one who didn't know whether the earth is flat. She does make a good case for her brain freezing up when she was asked the question and didn't really "hear" it, because she was so nervous, and just said "I don't know."
However... she has since expressed an opinion on the age of the earth. She dates it from Christ. [sigh]
I would just love to know what Hugh Laurie is thinking. Or maybe I wouldn't.
"ZOMG, John Edwards brushes his hair like a girl!!!!!" --Svensker
And why don't they write more about Bush being afraid of horses? He does live on a "ranch" after all, just one without any horses.
But, what I'd really like to know... given that hair is soooo important to the GOP... is why no one has suggested that Bush do something about his. It looks pretty bad most of the time. Definitely not Reaganesque. How did he even get the nomination, much less elected, with that bushy head of hair?
...the deplorable news about Bill Kristol?
I have. I have. Absolutely incredible. He must know where some bodies are buried at the NYTimes, don't you think?
So much for enjoying some schadenfreude at his leaving Time. Glad I enjoyed it while I could.
Otoh, what a large and magnificent target he will make there for future posts by Glenn. ;~)
You have both said some things that needed to be said (unfortunately) about John Edwards and his haircuts.
I would only add a few more thoughts...
Of course, a "bad" haircut would also have been criticized, and I don't know many people who have to look good during the day for meetings and such who would let just anyone cut their hair. So, they mostly don't get haircuts while traveling. Candidates often have no choice. Surely bringing in a hairstylist/barber who already knows how to cut your hair is preferable.
Note, too, that the very people making such a federal case of Edwards' haircuts belong to the very group (tho' perhaps a slightly younger cohort) who made worrying about such things absolutely necessary for candidates.
And, I also suspect that Edwards in his role as a trial attorney never made any less effort with his appearance before delivering his opening remarks before a jury. A sloppy haircut or any other sign of poor grooming? What would that communicate to a jury? Nothing good, I'm sure.
It really shouldn't be necessary even to defend expensive haircuts in this venue, where they were brought up, not to criticize Edwards, but to point out the hypocrisy of his attackers... but, always the apologists for the GOP talking points make it a point to appear. And so dogfather and lalucas (among others) have stepped up to the plate to set the record straight, and I wish to support them in return.
And again I ask, why has no one complained about GWB's hair? Surely, it is as obvious to everyone else as it is to me, that it doesn't look so great... Perhaps getting him to get his hair styled regularly is even more difficult than it was for Laura and Condi to get him to dress appropriately for the Queen's visit? Not that the M$M thought his persistent disregard for proper protocol was worth reporting on then, either.
Unambiguously confirmed air attack, SS leaves president in place unsecured against air attack.
...though I do not wish to make any excuses for anyone within this maladministration, is that the school location was "secure," having already been thoroughly checked out, etc., by the Secret Service.
Not my idea; I read the suggestion somewhere online, but I honestly don't remember where.
...especially on the "why-I-want-to-be-president" question, considering the great pains he has taken to talking about how important it is to restore the Constitution, and that it would be the first priority of his administration.
As for the "whatever" reason that he has not been able to break through the message cloud... mightn't that be due to the press's penchant for covering horse races over substance? It would certainly explain why the most substantial candidates are in the second tier, rather than the first.
Beltway pundit: "Ooohhh... substance!?! That's just tooo hard. Let someone else do it."
...just something I read somewhere else.
No jest intended, just discussion.
However, it is also worth pointing out that MacDill AFB is very close to Sarasota, and is the site of USCENTCOM.
I don't know enough of the details about 9/11 and I'm not an engineer, etc., but I can understand/sympathize with those who think there is much more than meets the eye. (Perhaps it is due to my coming of age in the late '60's and early '70's.) Surely, planning an event for Bush so near to MacDill for that day might support the notion of advance intelligence that something could happen that day.
Just playing the devil's advocate here...
I was looking for a foolish consistency. ;~)
...but y'all are cracking me up with all of this chicken s**t.
(I know, that's out of character, but...)
