patg and bystander....

You are both very welcome! I'm not sure I would have done that for any other blog than this one, given the formatting hurdles...

Yes, isn't it interesting how much emphasis there was on (lack of) "Health?" I certainly thought so.

Feel free to do with any of it as you will. That goes for anyone else, too.

My dilemma: I take almost no drugs/medicine, and I don't really have a car right now, and I can't drink milk. I guess I could write to the almond people, and maybe I'll think of something regarding some of the others. Maybe the Unitarians... or Oscar Mayer, even though I don't eat their product, I could make a case for joe kLIEn giving baloney a really bad name!

"I saw the Laila Ali ad somewhere else. If the dress doesn't knock 'em out, she's still got a great left hook. ;->"

One good laugh deserves another... Thanks for that one, Pedinska!

Still, I suspect that Integrity is probably an important attribute to Ali. And probably to Mark Spitz, and Carl Hiassen, too. And, even more likely, to the consultant to Native American Community.

I don't think any one person could write to all of these companies/people, but we could all choose one or two that resonate for us. Nor am I even suggesting boycotting, but just drawing their attention to how they and the other advertisers are being used to bring credibility to Time's questionable reporting practices, rather than the other way around. Rather than see the advertisers lose money through boycotts, I'd prefer that they made other advertising choices. A more laser-like boycott, as it were.

Awww, we knew what you meant...

and when we blend words, they just collect more layers of meaning... profit, prophet, prophit, profet.

Okay, that's it. It's a night.

Pedinska...

Until Valerie Plame that is. His game was slipping under pressure there toward the end.

It was some time in December of 2002, that I put him on a prayer list with the request that he "willingly give up his quest for unbounded power." (My request lasted for a month.) I guess something got lost in the translation during that month, but I did wonder if it even slightly knocked him off his game. Those next six-plus months were the run-up to the war, the mission "accomplished," and the outing of Plame, etc.

In retrospect, I should have repeated that request or similar ones for many more months.

WT... thank you

for your defense of the rest of us non-Time readers. I could feel myself wanting to take offense, but really had no good excuse, since I've never been a regular reader of Time, or any of the other political weeklies, for that matter.

I reserve my subscription dollars for the likes of Harper's... a far superior magazine in both content and style. But that's just me...

Last night was the first time I've bought an issue of Time since I can't remember when, and that was only so I could document the advertisers, and no one else will be reading that issue, I guarantee.

Anon @ 10:58

LOL... no, not Rick Stengel, and I wasn't the one doing the actual praying, either. I used a prayer list that I mostly use for people I care about. (There are people receiving the requests who know how much better than I, and they honor the requests for a month.) My request re: Rove was one of two times that I can recall when I tried to use it for someone I considered to be a trial. And that makes it tricky. I don't want any boomerangs flying amok in my life.

gender issue and safety on the nets & at home

Making her feel as if it isn't safe to live in her own house is not someplace anyone needs to go. -ondelette

I was going to write something about why it is not okay to go around making women feel unsafe at home, in order to make any kind of a political point, but I see that ondelette has already done so, and more ably than I would have.
