(Especially Kitt for really getting "cant," both its merits and its major flaw.)
And Bebop-o's riff had me envisioning a subversive version of a can-can dance, something like those animated shorts that were popular during the 2004 election. With Republicant heads on the dancers.
Still, there may be some way to make/write/suggest one of those movies that Pedinska and I were discussing a few months ago. And we could work in as much of the material we have all gathered here as possible. [P, I noted your addy.]
Time to figure out how to use the video feature on my camera. It won't be great quality, but still...
bystander: I took a quick look at wiki re: Kant, just to refresh my own memory, because I'm not really well-read in philosophy. It all becomes very circular... even the irony.
bebop-o, I had just been expressing a preference for poached eggs for dinner when I read your comment. But I got outvoted. I'll have some tomorrow. Poaching is my favorite egg method.
Republicaanisqatsi?
Oooh, that's a good one, too!
If memory serves, it would mean something like Republicans out of control?
Might be a good title for a short film. What do you think, Pedinska?
Actually, its "Life out of Balance," or in this case, "Republicans out of Balance." [Wish I'd thought of it!]

Pedinska: I haven't seen the whole thing, just parts of it, but it's very compelling.
he's not our target audience anyway.
are we even allowed to use hexasyllabic words here?
I've noticed that if you try to google them, you enter a whole new subculture, populated by double dactyls and scholarly papers that require either passwords or payment to access them.
Bystander, I wasn't even at the grocery store. I just took a shower and started a load of laundry, and voila!
You have compiled the lexicon for us, and ondelette is riding another linguistic wave... very promising!
Fwiw, I'm not entirely sure that it was the Democrats who made her cry. Seems to me that it was the Republicant cawcus who actually had more to do with it.
Not to take anything away from ondelette, whose powers never cease to amaze, but you did give him something good to work with...
Things have been pretty quiet at the Chocolate Interrobang, of late. Perhaps we could compile some of this over there? (Just for fun, of course!) Actually, everyone could work on it. The CI is set up as a group blog, just in case of an opportunity to collaborate.
In the meantime, I do think there might be something visual we can do with some of the terms... but it doesn't matter where we work on it.

[If you would like an invite, just email one of the contributors. Same goes for the rest of you.]
gets a little joke like that right away! That only happens when you hang around with smart folks.
Not to worry, Pedinska, there will still be plenty for you to riff on when you return, if not tonight, then tomorrow.
Speaking of which, I'm still planning on my/our DC-karmic cleaning project for tomorrow. I've targeted a bathroom, powder room, and the refrigerator.
I actually thought that Mrs. Alito's tears seemed sincere...
I was only questioning the conventional wisdom that they were due to bad behavior on the part of the Democrats. It seemed to me at the time that the Republicants were the ones who were escalating the entire episode.
More importantly, I'm sorry that you had to face a situation like that during your husband's race. Not that you care what I think, but if it happens again (election, race, etc.) you don't have to feel guilty either way... whether you cry or not. Tears just are. But for some strange reason, it seems that it is now okay for men to cry in public or on the stump, but not for women. How'd that happen?
but if I don't, I'll get a second wind, and then that'll be it for tonight. Busy day tomorrow...
Can't wait to see what else appears here overnight.
but I was thinking it was too bad you weren't here for this one. I don't think it's all over yet, though. Pedinska's just taking a soccer break. I, however, have to get some shut-eye. I can't speak for the rest... If you cast your eyes over our work so far I'm sure you'll have more to add, too.
Have any of you seen this story (linked from HuffPo)?
9/11 Firefighters and Family Members Plot Anti-Giuliani Ad Campaign
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=3881195&page=1
A group of 9/11 firefighters and victims' family members with eyes on derailing Republican Rudy Giuliani's presidential campaign is close to a decision on forming an entity that would run issue ads in key early nominating states.
"TV made him a hero, and we'll use TV to take him down," New York Fire Chief Jim Riches told ABC News.
Sounds like one place to begin (working towards Giuliani's defeat) might be to offer to help these guys.
caringtoo, WT and Sysprog... Well done.
Friedman merits no slack. He doesn't have to be well-known among ordinary voters. He has enough influence among the policy makers.
And MoDo... I'm tired of expressing my opinion of her. I regret the loss of the paywall.
...should have yielded many stories. Journalists should be all over this issue. Instead they're writing about anything that can be covered with a celebrity focus, including the election.
However, I noticed last week that the NewsHour is covering the drought, when they reported on the efforts in Las Vegas to reduce water consumption, and included an interview with their "water czar." They're actually making some progress there, but admit that it's still not enough.
