[Read the article: Hillary Clinton's petition ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I haven't lived in Minnesota since 1947. Bored? Let's see: I'm in three bands, perform solo, have 120 songs copyrighted, a novel, three books of verse, four children's books, a play. so I write this tripe off the top of my balding head in about a minute each. Add it up. You have the time, and lack only the intelligence. Sod off. Or not. Let's hear what you think. Categorize me. Insult me. I'm a Catholic- that should set you off good and proper. And a veteran (68 to 72, so that makes me a baby killer, too). Father of four, so I screwed, literally, ZPG. Whaddya got? Grad school revisionist dithering? Whining to mommy to limit posts. Yours are self limiting. kisses, tommy

Friday Afternoon Dump
[Read the article: Why did Clinton wait to release her tax return?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]So, the Klintoonians use the same tired tactic the Bushistas have used: wait to release something important or controversial on a Friday. Today's particularly good because the news is full of the (quite proper) memorializations of that terrible day forty years ago. I remember it vividly; that, and what happened in LA in June was like getting repeatedly kicked in the gut. so, the Bill and Hill show uses the cover of Martin's death, and the dead air in the news over the weekend, hoping most Murkans won't notice how filthy rich they are. Ooops. We noticed. Hypocrites.

cheese whiz, how lame
[Read the article: Why did Clinton wait to release her tax return?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]109 million dollars in seven years. for talking, mostly. Tell us, cubbie, why they release it on a Friday, and how pointing out how insanely rich Bill and Hill are while playing alleged champ to the middle class and poor. Lame. It's not Obama's fault they're venal and deceitful. They've got that covered without our help.

[Read the article: Why did Clinton wait to release her tax return?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Damning with faint praise, to say the Clintons aren't as money grubbing and ethical lepers like cheney and romney. Of course they're not anywhere close to that contemptable. But 'they've earned it". My ass. 110 million in seven years, more than my entire extended family, hard working college graduates with good jobs every one, will make in their entire lives. don't hand me they've earned it. they have not.

Daily Show Redemption
[Read the article: Can Stephen Colbert save America?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]We, then in our late fifties, started watching The Daily Show in conjunction with the 2000 election fiasco. Our thought then was this was clever cable, but it could have no impact, and certainly couldn't maintain it's quality level. Wrong. It's gotten more important, better written, and has had a greater impact each succeeding year. Colbert's performance at the White House correspondence dinner over a year ago is one of the bravest, funniest, and most impressive pieces of either humor or journalism I have ever seen. I'm 61. I've been through Paar, and Steve Allen, and That Was the Week That Was, and Laugh-In. These shows put those in the shade, both in terms of humor- the are amazingly funny, and consistently so. That is very hard alone- and in terms of insight and impact. No one covered the Obama race speech- in my opinion the best and most important speech in a generation- better than Jon Stewart. They can't save America, but they can sure throw us a life line, and a punch line.

Vote for a Person
[Read the article: Americans more ready for a black president than a woman?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Not a vagina. Not a penis. Not skin. A person. Grow the hell up. Joan is low on Midol again. To say, in any fashion, that sexism is more virulent or more prevalent or more injurious than racism is plain stone stupid. Get a goddamned life.

Hypocritical Pantywaists
[Read the article: Hillary's bridge back to the 20th century]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hillary is where she is because her name is Clinton, and they have a shitload of money. Otherwise, she's a hack corporate lawyer or an artificial vanilla congressthing from some rich white district. And she's losing, and will keep losing. Bet on it.

jacob the pussy
[Read the article: The Obama difference]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]165 delegates behind. the pennsylvania lead almost gone. behind by 12 points in North Carolina. PIss and moan. It's not about sex; it's about leadership. She took name recognition you can't purchase, a double digit lead nationwide, and had been out organized, out thought, out fundraised at the grassroots level, and had her fat ass kicked in every way that counts. Whining about sexism is the refuge of the pussy. Not the organ: the attitude. We're choosing a President, not filling some glass curtain quota. Boo hoo. At least lose with dignity. Or piss off. Your call.

kazzam
[Read the article: Can Stephen Colbert save America?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The news, or what we laughably call news, didn't cover Colbert at the Whorehouse Dinner. I caught it by accident online the next day- all 20 some minutes of it. I could not believe my eyes. I called family members into the computer room; we watched it three times in a row. I have never seen cajones/spine/guts like that in any politician, any public figure, in my six plus decades. Just astonishing. It was much more effective than open slander (but how could you slander Bush?) or obscenity (lewis black comes to mind). One of the funniest things was the stunned lap dog audience, who didn't know whether to Cheney or go blind. About ten percent laughed, and the rest were in abject fear and stupified silence. Colbert should have gotten a Pulitzer for that performance alone. It stands, Olympian, above everthing of its kind I have ever seen. I'm about 30 years too old for the Stewart/Colbert demographic, but those are the two shows I try never to miss. Maher is very good, but unever, and unnecessarily crude. I don't mind a well placed "fuck you", but he leans too heavily on that schtick, imho.

electro robot
[Read the article: Can Stephen Colbert save America?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]As you're painfully aware, we don't often agree, but you're spot on with this one. Literal, one dimensional stupidity is rapidly becoming the norm- and not even Norm from Cheers. He was a one joke drunk, but at least he had some self-knowledge. We're raising a race of cretins, and they ain't from Crete.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]IF it talks like a whore, makes money like a whore, invests with whores, hangs out with whores, I'm thinkin' maybe it's a whore.
