[Read the article: Repeal the Second Amendment]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You liked Red Dawn; that says more than I ever could. But the notion that an "oppressive" government is hypothetical misses the screamingly obviously point that the Bushistas give us exactly as much "freedom" as suits their avaricious warmongering purposes. Try stepping out of your first amendment zone and see how those rubber bullets feel. And Ray-gun was a braindead sock puppet; he just read his lines better than George, but it's the same gang of thugs with the same neo-fascist ideas. The Laffer Curve couldn't be better named; of, by, and for the duped.

[Read the article: Repeal the Second Amendment]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]So, guns protect us from the erosion of liberties? Is that your position? Then explain the obliteration of habeas corpus, search and seizure, first amedment "zones", and the litany of other affronteries to the Bill of Rights in the past six years. Who would you shoot first to regain those lost rights? And don't think they're not gone because no one's come for you yet. You're no threat. The Bushistas maintain, with a straight face (as do some of their appalling candidates for Emperor) that any American can be thrown in prison on the President's say so. We had a revolution a couple hundred years back to throw off those very chains. And you think, if that term can be attached to such sheeplike behavior, that owning guns can turn that tide. We can still reverse the damage, to the Constitution and to our place in the world, and to our rape of the envionment, but it is by massive public outcry and voter turnout in the 70 percent and above range that will make that come to pass. I wish I could be optimistic about that, but my fear is that uninformed lardbutts will sit home and let their fate, and ours, be determined by "elections" like the one in florida in 2000. I have no quarrel, in principle, with individual gun ownership, although I do favor background checks, waiting periods, and registration (and possibly a limit on ammunition purchases) if that floats your boat. Just don't delude yourself it has squat to do with freedom. If it come to that, handguns won't cut it. Lexington and Concord and stalwarts with muskets were a beacon, but the world has changed beyond recognition- at least yours.

Shameless Baldface Liars
[Read the article: The attorney general's "tremendous credibility problem"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Tacobellgrande Gonzales is no different than the rest of the pack of lieing jackals that run our country. They have no shame, no conscience. Impeachment should have begun long ago. Start now. George is complicit in so many crimes it's hard to keep track of them all. They have trampled the Constitution, and then hide behind it like two year olds with a diaper load. Orange jump suits for every damned one of them.

[Read the article: Repeal the Second Amendment]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Boy has your career gone into the crapper since Laugh-In. American has more guns than any other country. America has more murder, by far, than any other country. The vast majority of those murders are performed by idiots with guns, because guns are designed to do nothing but kill. Between the box of doorknobs and your fascist skull, I'll go with the doorknobs every time. Have a lovely day.

No Such Thing
[Read the article: Supreme Court upholds ban on "partial-birth" abortion]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]There is no such thing as a partial birth abortion. the men who want to push abortion back into the alleys made the term up. Now, a woman in the second trimester who has serious health problems has to hire a lawyer as well as a doctor. The Bushistas strike again, muttering "infanticide" while they murder hundreds of Iraqis a day. A culture of life, my ass.

[Read the article: Repeal the Second Amendment]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Sure, there's no difference between fascist death and communist death. but the word in the 2A is "arms" not guns. Explain that away, in the face of a huge standing army with tens of thousands of nuclear weapons. IF you're so heavily into original intent, how 'bout some slaves, and why are them wimmen voting? The founders could not have envsioned weaponry such as exists now. Keep your handgun. Sleep with the damned thing. I don't care. Just don't pretend it's a God given right. I"ve read the bible innumerable times, and I don't remember Jesus making any NRA references. Must have missed it. Have a lovely day polishing your gun. No, the other one.

Country Stupid
[Read the article: Supreme Court upholds ban on "partial-birth" abortion]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Continutation or termination of preganancy is the provence of only the woman whose body bears the potential child. Odd how "conservatives' are eager to have the government tell a woman to carry a child, regardless of the health of the mother or the fetus, to term. That is totalitarian ideology, period. Notice how frequently the passionate anti-abortion posts come from "men". Men bear responsibiliy for pregnancy; they do not bear children. How dare your yokels force your trailer park theology down the throats of the whole country. Screw you, and find out how it turns out when you have no choice in the life-changing outcome.

Not sorry enough
[Read the article: Supreme Court upholds ban on "partial-birth" abortion]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It is an utter fiction that women and doctors kill viable Gerber babies. The government has NO place in dictating to a woman that her well being and her health are subordinate to a fetus. Odd that so called conservatives want to invade the most private parts (kinda like Ted Haggard) of peoples lives. Butt the hell out. And fathers should, indeed, have say, but it cannot be veto power, in which a husband can force his wife to carry a fetus as the risk of her own life. Now, that would be murder. Ironic how repubikans are so concerned about cute widdle fetuses, and don't give a damn that we've murdered well over a half million actaul (forermetly) living Iraqis. Right to llife stops at the delivery door for you hypocrites.
