Once again, the myopic recto-cranial insertion of the Hillbots mistakes a tree for a forest. Let's stipulate that Rodham wins Penn by ten. Okay, then what? Does she dominate all the remaining contests? No. Does it all just about even out. Yep. Come June, she'll still be whining and pissing and moaning about her press coverage and how black Obama is or is not. Tough not being the lead dog on the sled team: all you see are assholes. Obama sees snow. Hillary sees.... puppy sphincter. She has the same "vision thing" as George I. She does speak more coherently, when she's not cackling or scolding or whining. Most importantly, she's losing. She will still be losing after Penn. She will still be losing in June. She won't lose in November, though. She won't be there. love, heywood

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yep. Another way they phrase it is "wait your turn". They leave the "boy" off the end, but it's there, in bold italics. The notion that sexism, noxious and reprehensible as it is, and as prevalent as it still is, holds a dim candle to the African American experience is low grade manure. How many women got lynched? How many women, percentage wise, end up in prison instead of college? It's utter nonsense, and does a deep, divisive disservice to both forms of discrimination, both of which need to be eradicated. But don't hand me "they're equal". they are not. Not close.

Maybe it's from my Wyoming days, but I just a person by word and action. A promise is nothing more than a handshake. Mean it, or don't. The man has had a remarkable life, and he's not yet 47. I hope- there's that naughty word creeping in again- that he's the real thing. It's worth a shot. We're in one helluva deep hole, dug by George and Dick and Condi and rummy, with the complicity of spineless congressional Democrats. I don't want an accountant, or a corporate lawyer, or someone "comfortable". I want a leader. a visionary. It's time to take a damned chance. see what "safety" and fearmongering have gotten us. Change. Now.

Are there leaders in the black community, spiritual and otherwise, who find the persistent residue of slavery, reconstruction, and Jim Crow a source of anger? Hell yeah. there ought to be. A young black man has a much better chance of going to prison than going to college. That angers me, and I'm and old white guy. Before you imply Obama is a sub rosa Black Muslim, read a few quotes from the "christian" right, a key cornerstone of the fascisti for the past thirty years. Any will do: Falwell, Robertson, Billy or Franklin Graham, Honest John McCain's supporter, whose name escapes me, who says the Catholic Church is a whore. Guess I'm a whore then, since I've been a Catholic since 1986. There's plenty of heated rhetoric from the pulpits of many American churches, and some of it is well founded. Walk through the poorer quarters of any major Murkan city and tell me we're a Christian country. Collectively, we don't give a damn that millions of children, proportionately overwhelmingly minority children, are on the verge of starvation. We just go to Mall Wart, stock up on cheap chinese goods that tacitly screw American labor, yank a lite beer from the fridge and reach for the remote control. The fascists, the Pharisees, the oligarchs, and the lobbyists count on it. Ignorance and indifference on the part of the Murkan public is key to their hold on power, regardless of which party technically has the edge at the time. That's why Obama scares the snot out of them. People who've never voted are voting. Young people, who typically vote in scandalously low numbers, are voting. Frankly, I'm surprised no one's tried to assassinate him. That's what happened the last time we got this far with an electrifying, charismatic young leader. Two of them, actually. This is the first time since '68 we actually have a shot at turning this deeply troubled country around. It's long overdue. As Lincoln said, and I still believe, we are the last best hope of earth. And we're well on the way toward losing that distinction. The time to be safe and snuggly and elect some middle of the road beltway bore is over. Change. Now.

Damn Lincoln and that 13th amendment anyhoo. Yeah, Shawn, Obama is a model of Chicago corruption, nothing but a fancy talkin' tap dancin' shyster with one o' dem high browns for a wife and way too much ambition. He only got this far 'cause he's a nice color brown; but, according to Hillbot sources, he's really much blacker than he looks. Why, he's so unethical he might even pimp for Wall Mart. Uppity. Up yours.
