Dukakis with a Vagina
[Read the article: Quarter of Clinton supporters would vote McCain over Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This morning brings the acrid smell of the increasingly likely ascendency of President McCain. We will have done it again. Six months ago, there was no way the Democratic nominee could lose in November. I had the nagging sense, now confirmed, that if Straight Talkin' John somehow wrangled the Republikan nomination, and Triangulatin' Hillary weaseled her way to the Democratic ticket, that then, and only then, could the fascist warmongers continue in power. Now, it's at the doorstep. Edwards would have beaten McLame by ten points without breaking a sweat. Every national poll shows Obama with a lead. Hillary trails in every poll against the "maverick" who's spent the last seven years with his nose up Bushie's tushie. Congratulations, progressives. The circular firing squad has formed. Ready, aim, lose. Hope you like the tax structure the way it is, and our schools, and the endless war. That's what we are on the threshold of achieving. Nice work.

Flexibility
[Read the article: Brand-aid]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Mr. Jay properly points out that America history is littered with both honor and dishonor. Slavery, native Americans, miscegenation, sexism, and centuries of war for profit, or land, or material gain (e.g. oil). The only wars in our history with any honor attached are the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and World War II. Our friend Monica, kneepads and all, is so flexible that he/she/it can both knuckledrag and goosestep simultaneously. that's flexibility, friends. Monica is the walking personification of "my country, right or wrong". America is a promise. Our task is to work toward the realization of that promise. Monica is no Democrat, no progressive. Tell us, Monica, which halcyon day do you look back toward, that golden morning in America when all was right, women and blacks knew their place, and white men ran everything worth running. Hey, wait; that sounds pretty contemporary. Enlighten us, oh repository (or is it suppository?) of such wisdom. My guess is you're a Ray-gun worshiping Mall Wart middle manager in his second or third marriage, and drive an SUV with a yellow ribbon on the back bumper. love heywood

Bumbling Pose 666
[Read the article: Quarter of Clinton supporters would vote McCain over Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Did your Midol supply run short? Originally an Edwards supporter, I switched to Obama when John withdrew. I never considered Hillary, who carries more baggage than Paris Hilton on a European vacation. Look, Madam, cast all the aspersions you want, and tag all Obama supporters as college age navel gazers. All three generations of our family, from 28 to 94 years of age, all support Obama. Every single one. None of us will vote for a republikan, so, yes, we'd pull the lever for Hillary if she shrews her way into the nomination. I'm a 61 year old Vietnam era veteran. I graduated from the University of California, and had the privilege of hearing both Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy speak from only yards away in the year before they were both murdered. Barack Obama is the closest thing I've heard to capturing what we lost in 1968. It's been a long time coming. Call me a dupe; I don't give a shit what you think. For all I care, you can mount that five legged calf- and I don't mean in taxidermy on your wall. love heywood.

Ah, Nevada
[Read the article: Quarter of Clinton supporters would vote McCain over Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yeah, loyalty is so passe, so outmoded. Vote for the guy/gal/darkie you'd like to have a beer with. That works out really well. I guess the saying's true: what goes up your vague ass stays up your vague ass. Sickening. I know full well both parties have more whores than Winnemucca and Elko combined, but we're the only ones who can change that. If 80% of the people voted, every lobbyist on K street would crap his/her pants. You could make a fortune selling Depends from the back of a van by the Washington Mall. Hey, none of this thrill me either. But if you think another Clinton or Bush with an attitude transplant is gonna change anything of importance you're way too drunk way too early. I would vote for a republikan unless they reanimated Lincoln. love heywood

No
[Read the article: Should Florida and Michigan vote again? ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hell no. For the Democratic Party, already on the verge of imploding (yet again) and losing another un-loseable election, to jury rig the rules mid-stream to placate Princess Hillary might just be the last straw. Let the process, fractured and flawed as it is, continue as advertised. If you want to redesign it next time around, all well and good. For now, absolutely positively not. No.

Go Fox Yourself
[Read the article: Should Florida and Michigan vote again? ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Obama is a Christian, you moron, and always has been. Hussein is the most common name in the entire middle east. It's like saying don't vote for an American named Smith, or a Chinese named Lee. Get a grip. Ease off on the cheap vodka. Read something that doesn't have pictures.

Jerk
[Read the article: It's 3 a.m. Who do you want answering the phone?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Honest John, the straight talkin' man, is a full body jerk. His knees are the least of our problems if we progressives can't unite behind whomever gets nominated. McLame is way more belligerent than Widdle Georgie- not as stupid, which is a hard standard to match, but much more aggressive. Just what we need. Geez.

Primaries
[Read the article: Should Florida and Michigan vote again? ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Voting in primaries is NOT a constitutional right, contrary to the ignorance posted below. Political parties are free to nominate whomever they want however they want, subject to only the most cursory of constraints. Years ago, there was no such thing as a primary. The party bigwigs got together and played let's make a deal. It's not that much different now, really. Money, money, money, and connections, usually win the day. Until we get real campaign finance reform, this hodgepodge, this irrational mix of caucuses and "voting" will continue. But the folks in Michigan and Florida were NOT disenfranchised. Their local politicos sold them out in the lemming like rush to have as early a primary as possible. Bullfeathers.
