God is God
[Read the article: The American media's fringe ideological view of Pelosi's trip]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Judging again, Jimmy Boy. Shame. You lockstep literalists miss the forest for the trees. If the word is God, why so many conflicting translations? Churchs doen't even agee on which Books should be included. Lame. The bible is divinely inspired, but it ain't God. That's like saying a map is the earth. Foolish on its face, you retreat into your little trailer park theology, which is a mile wide and an inch deep. If you read St. John of the Cross or Summa Theologica, your tiny head would explode. Scant loss.

Jimmy the Judge
[Read the article: The American media's fringe ideological view of Pelosi's trip]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yes, I believe in God, in Christ His only Son, the resurrection, and all the basic tenets of the Christian faith. I have a deep distrust of a strain of American "christianity" that goes all the way back to Calvinism, witch hunts, defense of slavery and women and property, hatred of Catholics, and a list to long and loathesome to continue. I could be wrong; Lord knows I've been there far too many times. But you seem straight out of that tradition, and I have the suspicion you'll tell me I'm not really saved because I don't buy what you're selling. I'll trust God to sort that out.

Shooter's Degree
[Read the article: The right-wing brain in action]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It's a matter of degree, and shooter's workin' on his GED. Welcome to Mall Wart.

Megalomania
[Read the article: The American media's fringe ideological view of Pelosi's trip]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The fact that humanity has free will does not negate the omipotence of God. If God were Walt Disney, He could have made us happy, sleepy, dopey, grumpy, or whatever. If He were Jim Jones, or Bob Jones, he could have us all act like automotons with a kool-aid chaser. If He were a Moonie or a Mormon, we'd all wear neat ties and white shirts and be endlessly polite. If you want to actually discuss Christian theology, try Thomas Merton's Seeds of Contemplation. Even easier, if that taxes you too much, Mere Christianity by CS Lewis is a primer. But reject God outright, or deny His existence, as you will; just don't limit Him by the scope of your own necessarily narrow imagination. Watch the night sky in August in the Rockies. Be quiet. Listen to what comes to you. American's don't care for silence or contemplation. The answers aren't in a theme park; they're in the desert.

Unreal Flamer
[Read the article: The American media's fringe ideological view of Pelosi's trip]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Uh, wrong again. Herr Rumsfailed was there as an official emmissary of the US govermnent, which was arming Hussein to the teeth 'cause he was our boy against the mean ol' ayatollah ya so. Pelosi, and other congressional representatives, including republikans, were there to explore ways to drag the middle east out of the monumental crapper that Bush and his thugs have turned it into (not that it was a bed of roses to begin with). So, you're dead solid dumbass wrong, Name.

Real Pain
[Read the article: The American media's fringe ideological view of Pelosi's trip]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]There is no such thing as liberal Moslem press, moron. Their problem with Ms Pelosi, just like republikans, is that she's an uppity woman. Y'all like 'em vacant eyed and xanexed up like Laura. Of course, if you're married to that war criminal, I guess all the medication you can get is only understandable. Liberal Arab press: is that like "compassionate conservative"? Duh.

armageddonoutahere`
[Read the article: The American media's fringe ideological view of Pelosi's trip]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]At least you cop your chops from the Last Whole Earth Catalogue. What about free will don't you get. Free. Given. Outcome indeterminate. From your perspective, it seems, if men make false choices, or reject God, it's God's fault because He created humanity. A predetermined result isn't freedom. Tough concept. Tough planet.

armageddonaout, again
[Read the article: The American media's fringe ideological view of Pelosi's trip]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Methinks we are close to being of one mind here. God does not "punish" wong choices. The choices are what they are. The consequences are a function of free will. To argue the other side is to say that there's no difference between a caress and blunt trauma. Choices have consequences. Truth is a complex of consequences. It would be an easier world if one could plug in the choices and have the consequence be obvious. That is not the real world, even if you choose to omit God from the equation.

Blow-Dried Hos
[Read the article: Iraq: Why the media failed]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The media is not designed to provide information. It's purpose is to make money. Of course they're spinelesss; it's their nature. Information is available, mostly on line, but you have to keep your eyes open, and your mind as well. If the media functioned as it did 35 years ago, Bush and Cheney would have long since been impeached. As it is, they're huntin' and fishin' and clearin' brush, and making buttloads on war profiteering money. Don't expect Kutesy Katie Kouric and her blow dried fellow hos, male and female, to tell you the truth. They'd be summarily fired if they did so. We're in mid-coup, folks. It gonna be a bumpy ride.

Legal Whoredom
[Read the article: May they please the court]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The whoring done by corporate lawyers, K street lackeys, et al is much less destructive to the legal profession than this harmless tittie-lating. Tempest, meet teapot. Jeez. Grow up.

A Dose Of Sanjaya
[Read the article: "Idol" slayer?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I got a case of sanjaya once. Pencillin cleared it right up. The whole show is a bad joke. All you kareoke lovers are welcome to it.

Dicks and Dictators
[Read the article: Weekly Standard: Bush has "near dictatorial power"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The authorization of military force was not and is not a declaration of war. It, foolishly as it turns out, gave Commander Codpiece permission to use his (nonexistent) judgement in using judicious force in a (manufactured) confrontation with Iraq. Every single pretext for the invasion of Iraq was a lie; every syllable, every sneer, every hypothetical mushroom cloud. Congress has the authority to rescind this authorization, and should do so immediately. They can impose a timetable if they so desire. If Bush vetoes it, begin impeachment proceedings based on violation of the Constitution, the war powers act, and the unwarranted, undeserved carnage visited on the innocent people of Iraq (at least 500K dead, and 2 million refugees driven from homes that are, in most instances, blown to bits by Bush's Army in Bush's War. It's his war. Where's Nuremburg now that we need it?

The captain and camille
[Read the article: Real inconvenient truths]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Two orifi on the same purportedly female body, mere inches apart and yet so similar: one achingly empty, the other chock full of it. They deserve one another. A plague on each orifice.
