Even if we started "withdrawing" today, the process would take well over a year, and at least another 800 dead and 5000 maimed. This isn't a process; it's a bloodbath.

Half of us don't register to vote, and only half of those that do actually vote (and that's every four years; in local elections, turnouts below 30% are the norm). And of course amending the Constitution is cumbersome. It should be. But if enough of us gave a crap, we could change things. It would take decades, and persistent involvement of hundreds of thousands of grass roots Americans. But the system still exists. We either don't believe it, or think it's too much trouble, or that corporate money and Diebold rigging can still screw us. Of course they can. But give me two or three consecutive elections with turnout over 70% and those fascists will be scared white (whiter), and on the run. Piss and moan, or organize and vote. I choose the latter. The internet is a great tool for this process. Howard Dean was a great example, if a less than perfect messenger (but right about damned near everything). So, register, make sure your like minded friends and relatives register, and vote, every time, without fail. Or shut up.
