  • FORGIVENESS

[Read the article: Larry Craig and the GOP contenders]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Oh yeah, the other big difference: Vitter got "God's forgiveness"; Craig aparently hasn't bothered to ask God for it (if he has, he hasn't said so). That leaves open the possibility that he either is not sufficiently religious, or not repentent enough (in addition to that certain "proclivity").

  • But they're still in charge....

[Read the article: The Republicans' Black Friday]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

No matter how bad things seem to get for the Republicans, they still have the upper hand.

Despite all the evidence of malfeasance by Alberto Gonzales, the Democrats left town having promoted him (and anyone who holds the AG's office) above comfirmed FISA judges. Now, Harry Reid is backing down from any strings being attached to further funding of the Iraq fiasco (and certain escalation of the fight, into Iran), when Congress re-convenes. Wow.

  • Makes you wonder

[Read the article: The GOP's crowded closet]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Considering georgejr's obsession about keeping his body "buff", and dressing to provocatively show off his "assets" (the flightsuit, and the rolled-up sleeve swager he sported recently, and so on); what might we infer, from HIS adamantly anti-gay stances? Perhaps he too "doth protest too much"?

    just a thought

  • It's not just a republican war

[Read the article: The Bush plan for Iraq: Wait, then say it's too late]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Unfortunately, both political parties "own" the atrocity that is Iraq, now - I guess that makes us ALL culpable. We have capitulated to the "terrorists" (including those who were "elected" to represent us). Before November, 2006, it was possible to blame the Republican domination of congress for rubberstamping georgejr's policies; now, it's obvious that control of congress makes no difference; bush gets to be king no matter what. In fact, the Democrats' capitulation is worse than their impotence as the minority - now, there's no hope.

  • They hold hearings

[Read the article: At FISA hearing, little new, but some interesting moments]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

And then vote to expand king george"s powers. Everyone knows that congress (Democrats & Republicans) has illegally repealed the Constitution. Now they are holding hearings to drive home to the citizenry that we don't stand a "snowball's chance in hell" of ever recovering our (previous) rights - neither party is going to reinstate the law; they are perfectly happy to continue to appease terrorists by removing the offensive freedoms we enjoyed, that so enraged bin Laden - anything to "keep us safe". Too bad we're such cowards...

  • Jose Padilla or georgejr?

[Read the article: Judge strikes down Patriot Act provision]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"...people who have cosmic goals that they are intent on achieving by cataclysmic means" (gotta love that phrase) - but are you sure he wasn't talking about george & dick?

  • Bayh=DINO

[Read the article: Gen. Petraeus takes it all back]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Evan Bayh is a Joe Lieberman wanna-be; he's voted on the wrong side every time. His question was programmed just to give Petraeous an opening to take back his previous (honest) answer to Warner about not knowing whether what goes on in Iraq affects the security of US.

  • Doesn't take 60

[Read the article: Petraeus has spoken; where are the Democrats?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If a bill isn't considered, it can't be filibustered nor vetoed. Democrats control the agenda, so the BS about not having enough votes is phony. What would be to terrible about a "Do Nothing Congress", when it comes to funding the occupation?

There are plenty of other items they could be working on - like repealing the repeal of the Constitution ....

  • Is there proof?

[Read the article: The war claims the lives of two critics]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

All things considered, shouldn't there be some skepticism about the circumstances of their deaths? Such coincidences....

  • We could join the Republicans

[Read the article: A surrender before the fight begins?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Defecting to the Greens or Independents has proven to be futile. The only people getting any attention or exercising any power, these days, are Republicans. If a Republican politician criticizes Bush's policies, they get huge headlines and endless interviews and analyses about what it all means. The Democrats claim that they are powerless without Republican help - even with majorities in both houses of Congress and control of the agenda, they are incapable of affecting anything in government without the help of the all-powerful (minority) Republicans.

Pelosi & Reid are carrying on the proud tradition of Daschle & Gephardt as Democratic "leaders", being bullied by the big bad Reublicans. In their minds the worst thing they can be accused of is actually representing those who voted for them. The Republicans, on the other hand, proudly & defiantly ignore anyone who didn't vote for them; including georgejr, who has chosen to be President of only his supporters (the rest of us, be damned).

I'm tired of being left out - maybe if enough progressives became Republicans we could change their policies, from within - or at lease we could be heard.

  • Olsen will be crowned

[Read the article: Reid to Bush on Olson: Don't even try]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Only the Republicans can accomplish anything with fewer than 60 votes.

If Ted Olsen is nominated, the Democrats will roll over, as always. I suspect he won't be nominated; and then becasue they were so "adamantly opposed" to Olsen, the Democrats will be hard pressed to object when John Yoo is. Then, we'll have an attorney general not only in charge of spying on us; he'll provide Bush with a whole new meaning to the term "cruel and unusaual punishment".

  • Dotted maps

[Read the article: Stand up, stand down, then do it all again]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The difference is "dotted maps" - I haven't seen them; and anything that potent has to have its own web site. Did the give a URL?

  • That's the explanation

[Read the article: Stand up, stand down, then do it all again]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

We've really come a long way, in the past 6 1/2 years - used to be they just let georgejr mangle his own statements (my favorite remains the one about the terrorists never stop thinking about how to destroy us, "and neither do we"). Now, they need to beat him to the punch, so that if when he does speak he strings two words together that make sense, he looks brilliant.

That must be where the dotted maps come in - they're all dotty,now....

  • What did she say?

[Read the article: The buck stops ... over there]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Good, so now we know Patraeous is the general, and he's answerable to the American people, because he's a general. And our tax dollars go to support the troops. And Congress confirmed him. And he's the general, so he has to answer to the people.

God, how does someone learn to string words together so incoherently - does it just come from proximity to gerogejr?
