The Bill and Condi Show

The Iraqis are "investing in their future with their own lives" - I really have a hard time wrapping my mind around that one. Is she talking about the suicide bombers? This comes from a member of an administration that has chosen to shred the Constitution on the premise that "you have no civil liberties if you're dead. Isn't it kinda hard to have a future if you're dead? I'm just sayin'.....

Original article: "Dearly beloved Bushes"

TONGUE-IN-CHEEK, MUCH??

Surely Larry King had his tongue firmly planted in his cheek when he said the American people are going to miss the "dearly beloved Bushes".

The Teri Schaivo legislation was a high point of senatorial decorum

Congressional oversight of the executive branch "debases" congress. Better they should stick to grandstand events like second guessing doctors about an individual's medical condition....

No one suffers more....

Ya gotta love it - Laura tells us that despite deaths and injuries to the soldiers and the people of Iraq, no one suffers more from the war than she and Georgejr . Now Tony Snow is saying Georgejr puts very life at risk "on the front lines", in the safety and luxury of the White House and Air Force One. Scary part, they believe this; scarier part, they think we'll believe this. If there's a God, please forgive us for whatever we did to deserve this.....

Keep Believing

Since impeachment is out, it's assumed that our saving grace is the next election. But, having repealed every other part of the Constitution, by fiat, what makes any of us think these people won't simply suspend elections, by 2008 (with the approval of the Supreme Court, of course)? Bush's rolemodels appear to be Saddam Hussein (Bush have adopted his governing practices, although he condemned them as a reason to depose Saddam), and Musharraf. (Mysharraf is hailed as our great ally in the GWOT despite ALL of his transgressions: Military coup overthrowing the democratically elected government of Pakistan, and refusal to hold new elections; giving safe haven to Osama bin Laden & his crew; aiding and abetting the sale of nuclear weapons technology to anyone and everyone we consider a threat to us, etc.) No, there'll have to be rioting in the streets and many of us will perish, before this administration relinquishes power. Just watch.

But, even he wants us to never leave....

Even Lugar thinks we need a military presence there ("sustainable positions"), forever, to protect the oil. How is this a "break" with Bush's policies?

Thursday, June 28, 2007 08:47 AM

Oh yeah, whatcha gonna do 'bout it?

So, how does Conyers propose to enforce the rule of law, at gun point? The only real means of enforcing the rule of law, with this administration (impeahcment) is "off the table". Maybe it is time for armed revolt, come to think of it....

What you said...

The Democrats have been in the majority of both houses of Congress for over six months, now. And, there are not MORE troops in Iraq, not fewer. There has been no reinstatement of the Constitution - habeas corpus has not been restored; illegal wiretapping remains in place; georgejr and dick still exercise whatever powers they like (the Democrats express outrage, but do nothing), and it goes on and on..... Does the word "rubberstamp" ring a bell?

Original article: Webb amendment blocked

Pete?

I've asked Senator Domenici why he didn't support this amendment - haven't heard from him yet. Maybe he should also talk to the relatives of those who have been deployed the requisite 15 months.

Tuesday, July 17, 2007 09:16 AM

God forgave him, how about the law?

If it is illegal to provide prostitution services in DC, isn't it also illegal to receive those services? Who decides whether to prosecute? Will georgejr pardon him? (Will he pardon the DC madam, if it turns out one of her phone numbers leads to inside the White House?)

As for Mrs. Vitter - Probably, the difference is when you pay for it, it's not personal.

"Nuclear Option"?

So, if the Democrats were so effectively cowed by the threats of the so-called "nuclear option" eliminating the filibuster altogether, why isn't that an option for the Democrats? Especially on an issue as important as ending the occupation (why do we still refer to it as a "war"?) of Iraq?

People are DYING!! On something this important, the Democrats really need to play dirty, and force issues - limiting debate to an overnight session is BS. Either eliminate the filibuster, or MAKE THEM ACTUALLY FILIBUSTER, til Hell freezes over....

"Nuclear Option"??

I'm sure the Democrats don't have the votes to exercise the so-called "nuclear option", but they certainly need to make the Republicans ACTUALLY FILIBUSTER, not just require an extended debate that is set to end at a time certain. Make them talk and talk and talk, like they used to (like the Democrats themselves SHOULD have, to save the Republic from Roberts & Alito). There's really nothing more important the Senate has to do, than end the occupation (why is it still called a "war"?) of Iraq. PEOPLE ARE DYING, some of them are even white American Males.

.....Or, they could turn their attention to restoring the Constitution of these United States - Habeas Corpus & the Bill of Rights might be considered a priority (or do we have too many Senators running for the opportunity to exercise the newly-established powers of the presidency??

Original article: The disappearing protests

It wasn't just the draft

Even the Bush administration knows the Vietnam protests weren't just about the draft - it was about body bags, atrocities we witnessed being perbetrated (in our name) against people who had done us NO HARM (just like now). That's why they don't allow coverage of those things, now. When did they get the power to censor news coverage of these things? And why haven't "journalists", and the rest of us, objected?

UN in Iraq got killed

Didn't we allow (cause?) the last UN representatives who were in Iraq to get killed? I think volunteering for martyrdom is a jihadist thing.

"Justice" Dept. involved

The kicker is, there's something about a Justice Department opinion carrying some weight as to what can and cannot be done - so, it's business as usual (bush administration "usual").
