The Fox coverage column

I kind of feel like I've written that column about 200 times by now.

That's why I'm kind of laying off J----e Z-----o. At some point it's beating a dead horse. When Fox introduces something new that's newly irritating, or, in the man bites dog sense, does something I think is great, I'll write about it, but I just get a little tired of repeating myself, and I can't imagine readers aren't getting tired of that subject too. The camera in the dirt is stupid. We get it, King.

Google my name and "fox" and "baseball" and "site:salon.com," and enjoy.

Overnight catchup

All I want to add to this fabulous discussion is two things.

1. A question was asked below that I'll paraphrase from memory: "If a rule is broken and an umpire doesn't call it, has the rule really been broken?"

My answer: No.

2. Keith, I'm with the people who say if you wanted to watch the World Series you should have been somewhere where the World Series was a priority? What kind of band goes onstage with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning in the World Series? Every band I've ever known.

I was in lots of bands, and never once shared the stage with a single person who would have cared about the World Series. I'd have cared, but I'd have gone on then too if it was time to go on. I'd have been there to play music, not watch baseball. And I'd figure the audience was more interested in music than baseball or they'd be elsewhere. There are between 358 and 361 non-World Series nights every year when you can go see a band without worrying about a conflict.

(Don't know how big a band it was, but a lot of times the club, not the band, says when it's time, and if you don't go when the man says, you lose time from your set.)

Please ignore

The first question mark in No. 2 below. I sure wish we had a few minutes to edit these things after posting.
