Logan Act
[Read the article: The American media's fringe ideological view of Pelosi's trip]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Someone might want to look this up...the Logan Act could very well apply to Pelosi and her delegation.

RE: Logan Act - UsedtobeKristin
[Read the article: The American media's fringe ideological view of Pelosi's trip]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]No doubt the republicans who went on the trip would also have to be charged as well unless it can be shown it was Pelosi who was driving the conversation and thus the "Criminal act" would fall to her alone, the others might be charged with some lesser charge perhaps or equally charged, but the case could very well be valid *if* some Special Counsel decided to take on the investigation...

RE: Logan Act - Jim Montague
[Read the article: The American media's fringe ideological view of Pelosi's trip]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You're missing the finer point that Syria is in fact been designated a terrorist state officially by the US and therefore talking to Syria conveying *any* messae without authorization of the Adminstration could be applicable under the Logan Act.
Simply citing cases where people got away with it (and not all your citations fall under the Logan Act) does not give grounds where it would not be prosecutable now. The Logan Act specifically deals with usurping the executive branches authority in dealing with foreign states.
I'm not saying Pelosi should or should not be investigated/charged, I'm saying it is possible. Do you think a chance to divert attention away from this administrations problems would not be seriously considered?

RE: Logan Act - Jim Montague
[Read the article: The American media's fringe ideological view of Pelosi's trip]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]So we've already reached the phase where you dismiss me as some troll and give me some advice on how to be more on par with your superior level of thinking.
Why would prosecuting the 3rd ranking person for violating the Logan Act be any worse than say a Presidential (top ranking person) Impeachment for perjury? The fallout wasn't so great then why would it be any different now?
Breaching Constitutional boundaries by branches of government are not taken lightly nor should they.

RE: Logan Act - Paul Rosenberg
[Read the article: The American media's fringe ideological view of Pelosi's trip]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If you examine case of Newt, which governments did he visit? Which enemy of the US did he talk to in order to upsurp the President's Authority? The difference is there. Newt in Israel bad mouthing mid-east peace plans is different than going to a terrorist state, stated enemy of the US, and upsurping the Presidents authority, unless of course you consider Israel an enemy state...

Do you have a source on that?

RE: Mona :Jim C is best ignored
[Read the article: The American media's fringe ideological view of Pelosi's trip]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]So I am a Chrisitan Zionist and therefore should be ignored? Are you anti-Christian? anti-Semite? Both? Why bring up my faith and who I support (Israel) as a way to discredit my arguments?
Clearly, I'm not calling for Pelosi's arrest. I simply saying that there is the possiblity that she borke the law. And those people citing any case in the past where someone skirted or violated the Logan Act and didn't get prosecuted is like saying anyone who got away with a crime automatically sets a precedent for not prosecuting future crimes. Ridiculous...

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Thanks for the link. This is the kind of discourse that leads to the truth, not the name calling and accusations to smear someone with a different viewpoint....thanks ezwriter.
After all is said and done, I do not believe Pelosi will be charged, I merely stated that it may be possible. Once the truth is found, then can we say we've done our duty...

RE: GlennGreenwald
[Read the article: The American media's fringe ideological view of Pelosi's trip]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Glenn, you say my views are repulsive, why? please explain? I know the answer. In my experience, trying to label my views about homosexuallity as "repulsive" means to me that you either don't have any morals or are affraid to express your own beliefs OR justify other immorality to cover your own. I'm not perfect, I'm a filthy sinner myself, but just as I would speak out against drunkeness, lust, porn, adultery, etc etc., I also speak about homosexuality as being immoral. If you think it is ok, fine, that's your belief. Thankfully, many states are passing bans against gay marriage to protect tradional values. I'm not a homophobe, I just don't treat homosexuality as a unavoidable fact, it is a choice to indulge in the lifestyle. A homosexual can not give into the desires just like a adulterous man can chose not to bed women outside his marriage. We all have the ability to make our own choices, you chose to accept homosexual acts as something just fine and dandy. I chose to not acccept it, your view is no better than mine. If you cannot handle this view, then perhaps you need to realize that there are these people who are not liberals and there are a lot of us and perhaps you should strive to understand our point of view even if you disagree with it...

[Read the article: The American media's fringe ideological view of Pelosi's trip]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"editing or deleting portions of a comment that run counter to his values. Also feels fine with arrogantly expressing Judea/Christian beliefs to justify his positions."
I don't edit or delete portions of a comment because it may counter my beliefs, I would edit or delete only if it is hostile, vulgar for vulgarity's sake, or plain threatening. It is my belief that someone can express themselves without personal attacks, name calling, hostility, threats, or vulgarity. You're welcome to bring a debate, discuss, even argue, but cross the line by any of the things I stated before, and I will delete/edit portions of your comment because it is my website, my house, you come to my home, you respect the host. I know that may be a foreign concept to some but, well, get over it....
