Original article: Make way for Muslim Girl

Hmm well

I suppose this could be an alternative to the shallow mainstream American stuff we have on the racks. I mean we've got Banana for Chinese Americans/Canadians(is this mag still alive?).

Thing is though, it all depends on the household and upbringing. It still seems incredibly stifling and backwards in some ways, and how many Muslim girls look around them, see how "free" other girls are, and wish they could ditch their standard uniform and just be like everyone else? Or try it for a day or a few hours?

I don't necessary see these Muslim mags as a way to advance Muslim women...it just seems to continue to perpetuate old-fashioned and outdated ideas and doesn't move anything forward.

Remember the Muslim barbie doll? That was introduced to counter the "sinful" regular version? It completely bombed - ask any little Muslim girl and she'll tell you why.

hahah so funny

Look at all these presumptuous brattle going on around here. Pfft this article is nothing but an old man venting.

And guess what, all the feminists jump all over him saying blah blah get a vasectomy we woman are better than you and we'll always be, blah blah.

Just hilarious that the moment I jump to this old geezer's defense, you get the readers who question my ability as a father. How would YOU know if I even have kids? A little presumptuous here aren't we?

I don't care whether you're male or female parent, there is no way you can't tell me that there are times that you're just plain angry to the point that you can't stand your kids. That's exactly what this article's about.

Vasectomy, so funny, so what, that just lets us have sex without condoms and not worry.

Don't need the govt involved

Find out from your boss if he/she will permit, if yes, go ahead, if no, don't do it. Even if the govt comes out and says "You HAVE to let her pump, too bad" - the point still stands that - depending on what your job is - your employee just may not have the allowances for it.

Think about the women working as coal miners...sewage treatment workers...slaughter-house laborers where production line speed is top priority...other blue-collar professions. What about smaller Asian offices? And we know how those are about following govt policies. Pumping breast milk with a stingy cheap boss hovering over you day in and day out? Are you crazy?

This can be done and accepted in places like law office, govt offices, and other white-collar jobs and places. Not so well with work environments where fast production is absolutely key to the business.

About the parents being allowed paid leave...

It sounds fantastic but this is a song I've heard sung before. The counter-argument to that is what I've heard made by single people (both male and female) who counter this with their own:

"Why should we single people have to pick up the slack for those around us who CHOOSE to have kids? Why aren't we given the same levels of time off? We chose NOT to have kids - so why should we work harder to compensate for THEM?"

That just opens a whole can of worms, especially for the younger 20-something crowd around you silently fuming away in their cubicles.

Too funny

Sigh you people should see how it is from the Chinese side of things.

Many, Many of my aunts of friends of my mom and aunt forced their budding kids to play piano. And you know why? Because they wanted to show off how talented their kid was in front of their friends. Competition. My kid is smarter than yours.

So you think what you have in the story is bad? Watch an old-school Chinese mom forcing her kid to practice OR ELSE.

All you Chinese readers know what I'm talking about.

Sigh

Just from reading all this "oh oh I've been SUBJECTED to this and that" you can see who the Americans are.

This is the world we live in, take it or leave it. If a bunch of high school boys drives past you and makes all kinds of rude remarks, it maybe bother you in the heat of the moment, but it shouldn't matter 2 weeks from then on. Give it ten years and the very same boys will be sitting across from you suited up, in the interviewee side of the table begging you for a job.

This is makeup. You do, or don't do. Look at the celebs around you before and after, the makeup job. That is proof enough that anyone with effective application of makeup, can transform themselves. You know it, we know it, and hell the pre-teens know it.

Today, there are men who apply makeup. The difference before and after, is also at times fairly striking.

This is not just about little girls and makeup. Have we already forgotten about the little boys?
