Didn't you get the memo?
[Read the article: Bush's missing bin Laden plan]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Commander Codpiece told us a couple of years ago that he doesn't really think about Osama bin Laden much anymore. So, why are you stressing about it?
Osama's probably kicking it with his boys in Dubai or driving a taxi in Brooklyn.

You're missing the point of her "art" project
[Read the article: My body, my choice, my art project?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This young artist is not concerned about the possible impact of her work on the pro-choice or anti-abortion movements. It was done for art.
Not like I'll be standing in line to view what I can see in the toilet at home.
-
work passwords don't count
[Read the article: Survey: Women looser with their passwords than men]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]many people aren't that concerned about security on their work computers - it's the company's problem if there's a breach.
Anyway, most probably took the candy and went to the office...and promptly changed their passwords.
-
It's all about the Electoral College
[Read the article: The painful task of measuring racism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"doesn't an 80% to 90% break for Obama by blacks tend to counteract the knuckle-draggers?"
In Red States like the Old South, even if 100% of African Americans vote Obama, the overwhelming number of GOPers, plus a few racist Dems will tip the vote to McCain - and Electoral College votes get assigned winner-take-all by state.
Remember, Blacks already vote 90% Dem, so there are only a few token African Americans in the GOP for Obama pick up.

Simple solution to these bogus regulations
[Read the article: Your fetus has fingernails ... and we're going to show them to you]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Women in Oklahoma (and any other backward states) should NOT terminate their pregnancies - for any reason - lack of income to raise a child, genetic defects, whatever.
Then name your favorite male legislator as the father and drop the infant off at his office for care and feeding for the next 21 years. Doesn't everyone love babies?
-
There was no recovery
[Read the article: When do we know the worst is over?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]For most Americans, the 7 years under Bu$hco has been a constant recession. Few people saw their incomes increase, while costs have only gone up. Many people were supplementing their earned income with credit cards, home equity loans, etc.
The subprime crash and subsequent credit market implosion cut off that source of funds for many as housing values declined and the rates for personal credit increased.
At the same time, the safety net is full of holes - less severance when laid off, no healthcare coverage, crappy pension/retirement plans.
How many people can say "Yes", when you ask if their personal financial situation is better today than it was in 2000?
-
Hey, I'm just like Bill Gates!
[Read the article: The economic "stimulus" bonanza needs a new name]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]We'll both be getting bupkus in our mailboxes. Not that I really care about the "Halliburton-ExxonMobil War Profiteering Dividend Check" anyway - let's just get our overall economy working again so we all don't end up having to move back into our mother's basements!
-
Kaywww is right
[Read the article: When do we know the worst is over?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Any job that can be offshored to a lower cost country will be in the future. So spending years in college and going $$$ in debt won't pay off when that accountant, radiologist, chemist, software designer, lawyer job has been moved to India, China, Korea - wherever.
Maybe we should be telling kids to focus on getting employment in jobs that require someone physically in a place - plumbers, electricians, construction, retail sales, McDs?
-
Legal voters?
[Read the article: Nunsense]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]How do we know they are eligible to vote? Maybe they're illegal immigrants who rolled their way across the border from Canada.
I'd check them for voter fraud, probably already voted in Chicago, twice!
-
You get the Defense you can pay for
[Read the article: Has our reverence for DNA gone too far?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Legal questions about "chain of custody" with regard to evidence are becoming an increasing part of a defense vocabulary."
That's assumming you have a Johnny Cochrane on call. If you don't have the money to afford a super lawyer, you might find yourself sitting in the state pen for the next 10-15.

This American Life explains in all
[Read the article: A new, improved bubble-popping Fed]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Comprehensive, well-done piece on the whole global credit clusterf*ck.

No one else cares
[Read the article: Make it stop: Professional baby planners]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"going all-out to make the arrival of the baby an over-the-top, special event"
For all the helicopter parents-to-be - please remember that hardly anyone else (except maybe grandparents) wants to be involved in your kid's Radio City Music Hall production. Don't want pictures of babe in utero or delivery. Don't care about his/her first poopie.
Now if the little critter wins MegaMillions - don't forget your favorite "auntie"!
-
War Profiteering
[Read the article: News from Israel: Bush wants to attack Iran soon]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Follow the money. Maybe Prezdint Chimpy McCodpiece is just looking out for his buds at Halliburton, KBR, Blackwater, etc. Iraq "reconstruction" contracts will wind down as the Dems pull troops from Iraq in the next 12-18 months. Bush is just making sure his cronies will be set with their next set of no-bid contracts to reconstruct Iran (and its oil) after we blow it up.
-
Party over here!
[Read the article: Candidates make Cuba an issue again]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"I think Obama might start with phone calls or get acquainted at gatherings of world leaders rather than having formal talks without conditions at the beginning."
I'm in favor of a slumber party at Camp David. Old and New "Axis of Evil" members could bring their jammies and spend the night braiding each others' hair and calling up the cute boys/girls that they have crushes on.

Brought to you by Carl's Jr.
[Read the article: McCain campaign seeks supportive blog comments]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]just direct-deposit into my offshore account, please
-
Out of touch
[Read the article: How do you sell a pork chop to a woman?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This campaign seems like it was designed for women in the 1970s. If they are trying to appeal to younger women (under 45) they are way off the mark. Most women don't wear stockings more than a couple times a year and are likely to have a roll of actual duct tape around for real emergencies. Most drawer or door knobs screw on, nail polish would be a disaster.
-
Forget the puppies!
[Read the article: McCain camp targets battleground states]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I want the winning MegaMillions numbers, and a date with George Clooney! If McMaverick can deliver - he's got my vote!
-
Chris49068 is right about keeping up with cost of living
[Read the article: Mortgaging our credit card debt]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The phony Bu$hco tax cuts did next to nothing to help most people. If their IRS tax bill went down $250, their state and property tax bill went up $500. Add to that the double-digit increases in food, utilities, gas, etc - with a measly 1-2% pay increase and you are in for a world of hurt.
-
destination weddings as money saver
[Read the article: Always a bridesmaid -- who can afford that?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]a friend had her wedding in Bermuda with the distinct purpose of limiting the number of people who would attend. Most of us decided we didn't want to take days off work, spend $1500+ to go. They ended up with about 25 close family and friends - and the wedding and reception came in right on budget.
Didn't hurt my feelings at all.
