Just another fairy tale

I don't remember ever being told that Santa Claus wasn't a real person. I think I just figured that it was pretty impossible for one person to get to everyone's house (unless he was God- but that's another story) and just enjoyed the gifts!

Original article: Dobson vs. Cheney

Parental love

Isn't Dobson the idiot who preached that you can "beat the gay" out of your children? And didn't he have some weird views on fathers bathing with their sons to reinforce "maleness"?

Stop yer complainin!

Maybe these bleating bloviators should give up their cushy jobs and nice homes and change places with a young girl in South Africa. Or donate a few of their own dollars towards somebody's (anybody's) education!

Re-read Alise's post

"I had no idea that there were people modeling clothes who looked like the photos of victims liberated from concentration camps. Women whose knees are the only part of their legs with mass. With ribs you can count - all their ribs, not just a few. FACES with bones you can count, like leering skulls."

People, this is the issue - not whether you might "naturally" be a size 4 or a 12.

When you see the celebrity photos/video from fashion shows and red-carpet walks, and you can count their ribs or they look like bobble-head dolls, and you know the camera adds 15 pounds - we have a problem!

Everyone into the s*&t

It should be clear to anyone with a brain that Pres Bush is psychotic and will not be swayed from following god’s call to remake the Middle East.

Dems should make additional war funding tied to a repeal of the Paris Hilton tax breaks. We’ll see repubs jumping all over themselves to get away from Bush’s “surge” (into the toilet).

Ditto on bored with Grey's

Enough already of Grey's, Housewives, Lost and 24. These shows are tired and leaped over the shark long ago.

The Wire won't get nominated because there are too many unknown (and black) actors in the cast, and it doesn't tell an uplifting story. Just like Oz before it, some of the best stuff on TV.

Original article: What else we're reading

Not for home computers

The gender-sensing technology they described was designed to be used in public places, probably like the TV-type screen seen in the movie "Majority Report".

It seems that trying to spontaneously deliver gender-specific advertising in a public place probably has little value to potential advertisers. More likely to alienate customers (of all genders).

GOP Pres in 2008?

It's too bad that Clinton and Obama are sucking up so much of the money at this early stage. Neither stands a chance in the general election. If you think repugs tried to rig (and probably were successful) the 2000 and 2004 elections, you ain't seen nothin yet!

Separately, while Clinton and Obama have a variety of attractive characteristics, I think alot of the people feel intimidated into supporting them, in an attempt to avoid charges of racism or sexism.

While I would love to have a woman or African American president, it is crucial that we do not have another devasting republican administration - McCain, Guiliani, Romney, et al are dangerous for this country.

Why is this a story?

Who cares? Boring!

Hated The Family Stone

Diane Keaton and the rest of the cast of Family Stone were horrible! What a terrible family, not funny or clever - just cruel and irritating. I would have rather been raised by wolves.

Who picks up the slack...

when employees go out on 6 week medical leave? Some companies can hire temps if the leave period is defined. But when someone takes a week here or there it creates a heavier workload for other employees, and they don't get any additional compensation.

War profiteering

How about a tax on those profiting from the "war on terra"? Like Halliburton, KBR, Blackwater, Exxon, etc? That would go a long way.

Tuesday, February 6, 2007 02:32 PM

Where's Osama?

Well, if we are at war with them because they attacked us - how come no one is looking for Osama bin Laden? I think he's driving a cab in Brooklyn!

Original article: The "hoohaa" monologues

Ignorant adults

"Who is this woman too embarrassed to tell a 12-year-old girl what vaginas are? How could this poor girl have been deprived of such basic anatomical information?"

Wake up! This is 'Merika, land of faith-based science classes and abstinence-only health education. The parents are far stupider than the kids - I'm sure this girl has heard more detail on Oprah, Grey's Anatomy, CSI!

Muscle vs fat

Not everyone knows that muscle takes up less space on the body, but weighs more. So Serena Williams at 165lbs is strong, fit and looks like it; while an inactive couch potato at 165lb might look like a tubbo.

Why all the hatin'

on our Shrub-in-Chief? He has people who are supposed to know if there is a civil war over there in Iran, Iraq, whatever...

Anyway, didn't we make our choice of prezdint based on who we'd like to have beer with? King George II seems like a fun kinda guy- he's friendly, has an airplane, looks like a nice package in his flight suit - party!

Excellent!

Robert Franklin - and remember neither John Wayne nor Ronald Reagan served in WWII - they just played war heroes on the screen!

All talk

Why should anyone believe anything this guy has to say? After weeks of pontificating about how the "surge" was so important, McCain managaed to be MIA on Saturday for the Senate vote. When called to account - he didn't show up - 'nuf said!

Let the others tire themselves out

"he better decide pretty quickly if he hopes to have a shot"

Gore might be better off to wait until later in the year when the "real" people start paying attention to the 2008 election. Right now, the only people focusing are pundits and the political insiders.

Gore has so much name recognition and alot of people (Dems and swing voters) feel GWB presidency has been a debacle. They also think he deserves a shot, 2000 was stolen from him.
