Don't assume anything

Your boyfriend will be focussing on taking care of his dying mother for the foreseeable future - that means your relationship with him will remain static - do not expect any support or concern for your problems or the relationship - he has something much more important to deal with.

Unlike Cary's advice, I would ask him specifically if and how he wants you to support him. Give him a little time - a couple of days - if he can't articulate what he wants - then you should decide for yourself about your own next steps and seriously consider going back to grad school.

No one appreciates a martyr.

Who reads Details?

Isn't most of the readership gay? Don't even think this article would apply?

GOP not know for intelligence

These dopes are delusional if they think they have the makings of an Obama backlash. It's like getting 1 number in the Pick6 and claiming you WON the lottery.

But do they believe in Jesus?

Sound like smart people - I'll bet they believe in evolution!

Original article: WTF of the day

What's the problem?

If people (men) get these fembots, it seems like the only people who should be complaining are the low-wage housekeepers, homecare workers, and sex workers.

I have a natural solution

If your man is demanding "virginity", it's likely he's not too experienced himself. Just schedule your honeymoon (or whenever you plan to do the deed) for the 1st day of your period. Doofus will probably be totally fooled by the - yikes -blood!

the sequel to The Adventures of Millie, the White House Dog

is not likely to spur a bidding war.

I'll bet "I Slept with a War Criminal" would be a best-seller, though.

What's at issue here?

Is it someone getting fired alledgedly because of the source of her bruised appearance, or because of her bruised appearance?

The world does not revolve around you

Stearns:The big game is on Thursday. Can I get a make-up exam?

Pelosi: Are you actually playing in the game?

Stearns: No, but I bet big on the Gators!

Pelosi: Kiss my skinny ass, bubba.

Original article: Sarah Palin is not bitter

Please, make it stop!

How about a 3 month moratorium on coverage of Sarah Palin? If she doesn't have something to say that directly relates to her position as governor of Alaska, there is NO need to cover it.

No congrats on being a grandma, no whining about the librul press, no photos of her moosehunting or powershopping at NeimanMarcusWalMart.

Now, what has Paris Hilton been up to?

It was nicer with British accents

LW should just order up the 1940s classic "Brief Encounter" and have an afternoon weepfest.

Spoiler alert - the "cheating" couple don't end up riding off into the sunset together.

Time to leave

Agree with previous commenters - your boyfriend needs to focus on raising his daughter. And given that you are only 13 years older than her, it seems a bit much to expect you to take on a co-parent role.

Second, it sounds to me like Anna has some development problems which require professional evaluation, not just having the nanny teach Dad "how to raise a child".

Seem to be missing something important

French ministers are NOT entitled to maternity leave.

"France prides itself for progressive social policies that give women 16 weeks of paid maternity leave, but these laws do not apply to ministers and elected officials."

She also is a single parent, maybe she couldn't afford to take unpaid leave - similar to alot of women (and men) everywhere.

Wait a minute! I thought Obama was supposed to be turning the White House into the Black House!

Chitlins and watermelon everyday. Turning in the presidential limo for an Escalade with gold rims. And fried chicken for everyone!

FauxNews needs to get their idiocy straight!

No one will miss her

jebldmm says: A lifetime of good deeds and a family reputation for liberalism wiped away by a few weeks of inexperienced politicking.

essmeier says: The truth is that 99.999% of us never give Caroline Kennedy a thought in our day to day lives. Until a month ago, I had no idea if she even had a reputation at all.

I have to go with essmeier on this one. Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg had a very low profile for many years, only showing up publicly for some Kennedy foundation events. Her "campaign" and withdrawl will have NO impact on the Kennedy family reputation.

@Phyllis Beck Kritek

Best comment of the day, very well said.

Original article: Obama meets with House GOP

Suckas!

The GOP leadership is playing the Dems for suckers.

They know the stimulus package will benefit their constituents, they also know the package will pass whether GOPers support it or not.

By going on TV bloviating about being fiscally responsible, against pork, blah, blah - they are able to paint Dems as wasting taxpayer money, yet they know their voters will still get funds.

Too bad stimulus funds can't be reduced for districts with obstructionist congresscritters - let them try to explain that in 2010.

@yockahootchie

WhackPAC - we have a winner!

Wednesday, January 28, 2009 09:03 AM

@R.Thompson

You'll be getting a bill from my therapist - it's going to take months to recover from reading your statement from Sarah Palin.

Wednesday, January 28, 2009 12:18 PM

Goopers get what they want anyway

The Republitards can go on record as "fiscally responsible" and vote against the stimulus package. It will pass anyway and their crackerbarrel states will still get their share of the funds.

By 2010, no one will know or care who voted for what.

Just what I was thinking

tempus says:For monies to provide for the continued and faster development of artificial wombs so that women who do NOT want to be pregnant for whatever reason could send the thing to an artificial womb.

With this, we'd see where the most basic beliefs of these anti-choicer/anti-contraception truly lay. They'd either shrug their shoulders at this and agree or stroke out for taking the punishment part of unwanted/unplanned pregnancy out of the picture.

Exactly! Then we'll see how "pro-life" these bible-bleaters are. Are they willing to adopt, educate, raise these unwanted babies? I doubt it. So SFTU.
