There once was a radio show host that spoke the devils words, condemning doctors and nurses that performed legal safe abortions. Some nut case came along and listened, and then did the dirty deed. The radio show talk host was prosecuted and spent time in jail (I forget his name, but it doesn't matter). Bill O'Reilly should be prosecuted too. Someone in the District Attorney's office should look into it.
While shopping for Prom dresses this year for my daughter, I found few stores that stocked the dresses at all, the ones that did - had plus sizes. I hope that means that weight discrimination has eased a little.
BTW – in spite of the "recession" the dress we bought was pretty expensive. Now I know why many girls went in homemade dresses this year.
Every time we loose a little more freedom as we proclaim to support freedom for other countries. We also are loosing a "free" press. How can any reporter actually research and report on anything without feeling "big brother" looking over their shoulder? Why are we so stupid in this country?
We need to keep writing and keep calling our Senators and Congressmen. Our country is on the road to bankruptcy with Healthcare. There needs to be rationing and real life truth out of doctors. They don't want to tell you what is really going on. Each person that has less than one month to live, should be put on "comfort" medicine and let to die. This happened to me just recently. My loved one was extremely ill. Much of the time, she was incoherent. The hospital bill for one part of her care was over $165,000. I have no idea if she paid that much in taxes in her lifetime. It doesn't take brain surgery to figure out what is wrong with our system. It's pretty much everything.
We also need to push for reform. There are so many ways to save money without reducing care, if people are rewarded for finding them or suggestions are actually listened to. First, it should be illegal to dump the very sickest off insurance. That is what it is for. If the insurance companies want to continue this - then we have no choice but to have national health insurance. We all pay eventually for the sickest people anyway. Preventative care has to be implemented. Rewards for having less costly children should be found. Women who take care of themselves during pregnancy and don't have babies on life support should be praised. Employees that do the paperwork should be given rewards for finding ways to streamline the process, instead of given rewards for throwing off people from insurance plans. Doctors should be given help with their paperwork, not given more and more to do to justify proper tests and treatments. It shouldn't be that hard to come up with a list of things that ought to be done for the major illnesses. Auto insurance seems to work - why not healthcare? Obviously, we need a lot more doctors in training right now. We need to subsidize their education and improve high school education so more people can become doctors. Having to wait months for a doctor visit is a complete joke. And they criticize Canada. How about proactive care?
My parent had Asthma and COPD. Did she have any kind of physical therapy to keep her healthy early on? She couldn't get it until she was so bad, she could barely walk. I know her downward spiral could have been over a much longer time, if she had proper care. Her general practitioner ignored her until she started going to the hospital as a revolving door patient. The entire thing was a fiasco, an expensive fiasco. She needed "Dr. House" by the time they began to work on her. Too bad he doesn't exist.
