  • And paranoia sets in....

[Read the article: The Obama show lands in Israel]

It is about time that the US realizes that its actions has an effect on the rest of the world. This administration has done so much damage abroad that it is a no brainer for a guy with a different take that's a candidate for leader of the free world to go and confer with the rest of the world. Not only do we have citizens abroad who will vote but it is a great start for both candidates to go and sharpen their foreign policy knowledge before taking the reigns.

On a different note, I had a frightening moment yesterday while driving home through the outer reaches of Dolly. Is this some kind of bizarre plot? I've never been a paranoid person but never have I lived during an era like the last 7.5 years. Is it possible that the media is glorifying Obama in order to whip the extreme right wing into a frenzy of rage ultimately leading some wingnut to go off and do what we all fear? Is that so far fetched? I mean, doesn't the coverage seem so glaringly one sided? Even to a far left liberal such as myself it does. But then again, look at the focus. We have an old guy that is pro-war, pro-Bush, pro-status quo, and you have this young, vibrant guy with a stellar record as a community organizer, a guy that "gets it" (in the words of the Jordanians), who has charisma to boot. But I just get a really bad feeling that all this hype is leading us to a similar 60's civil rights era experience which will invariably hurl our country into a downward spiral that I don't think we will ever pull ourselves out of.

    Sigh.

I guess the bush residency has had a more profound and lasting effect on me than I realized.

  • The Religious Right/Neocon Mantra

I heard repeatedly in the run up to the 2000 & 2004 presidential election was that God picks the president. I found that so unbelievable, so nonsensical that it confounded me that people could really believe something so ridiculous. Of course, no, that isn't the case...since it appears that God has left the building having served His purpose in seriously damaging the fabric of our "representative government". I have become a closet Christian as I want no association to the self serving false christians that falsely represent.

I found this article rang exceedingly true. The vast majority of conservatives that surround me believe that "a few ruined it". That had just this or that gone just a bit differently, then all of this would have turned out differently. It's a collective dellusion that makes me want to slap someone.

I knew immediately but it was confirmed when those that hated the overseeing body...were put in charge of that body, that it would take decades to right this ship.

It's all part of being a young country and the learning curve. It's heart breaking, it's devastating but I am hopeful that we will learn from this experience and keep it in our history as it really was in reality and not massaged to reflect pleasantly on those that participated. I am hopeful. Saddened. Pissed off. But hopeful.
