  • So sue me

[Read the article: Should Florida and Michigan vote again? ]

At least one FL lawsuit has been thrown out in court; FL Sen Bill Nelson's lawsuit will be heard in mid march, I believe.

[Judge]Lazzara wrote, "The Supreme Court has consistently recognized that national political parties have a constitutionally protected right to manage and conduct their own internal affairs, including the enforcement of delegate-selection rules and the decision as to which state delegates it will recognize

    @KultFree

but I can tell you, as of right now, Florida has no intention of holding another election. I received an email from the Democratic party just today reiterating that fact. We have voted, we have chosen our delegates, and we fully expect and demand that the DNC formally acknowledge our vote immediately and seat our delegates.

So the FL dems and the DNC are still in a pissing match, the FL voters are hosed and the prior supreme court descisions imply that the FL dems are toast. Meanwhile the rest of the party looks on in horror. Good Show.

  • OT @The Professor: Texas results delivered by Steer?

[Read the article: Can the Clinton campaign take the heat?]

Texas caucus results legally don't have to be posted until Saturday. Counties along the border are historically slow in reporting results.

That's a few lifetimes from now given the attention span of the media.

Not everybody appreciates the effort required in polishing your iconic drive-by genre. Keep that Brando outsider thing going!

Id Be More Than Happy To support and vote for Obama in the general. But his campaign has some tests to pass.

    Yes.

  • If you think

the Republicans won't use the missing tax returns and anon. Clinton Foundation donations against Hillary then you're wrong. They already are.

She should just get it over with and move on.

I doubt we'll find anything illegal in the tax returns, but I think Hillary would rather defer explaining how some of her income was made, preferably after the dems are committed in the general election, rather than in the primary, when they are still wavering. For example, Bill Clinton was paid $450,000 for a speech in the UAE. The fact that it takes some of her core voters (the ones making less than $50K/year) nine years to earn the same amount may not go over well. If you don't think stuff like this will piss some voters off, then all the more reason to release the information now.

He was paid $450,000 for a recent Dubai speech, and the UAE chipped in between $500,000 and $1 million for his presidential library. In November, Clinton referred to the pro-U.S. Dubai-government as "a role model" for the Mideast.

[...]a couple of nutcases logging on with 30 or 40 different accounts just to spew their spittle about HRC

    Let's see your list, buddy.

Like the alliteration btw. I'd bet you'd look good in an iambic pentameter.

Thank God, I don't live in a place where there's some Black Panther politician or drunk has-been insisting we all go down for Obama together.

You've done a pretty good job of describing where you live.

  • Periodically darkening?

[Read the article: Was Obama's skin darkened for Clinton ad?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Anyways, weren't Clinton supporters crying "sexist pig!" when Obama used the words "down" and "periodically" just last month? It is funny how people who will divine mysogyny from the use of common words can't get the problem with darkening a video featuring an African American. --snoman

I must be a moron. I don't get either periodically or the darkening of the video. But point taken; some people only see what they want to see. Shouldn't we look at some of the issues instead? Shouldn't Salon attempt keep the tabloids out of the War Room, page hits be dammed?

  • @lateagain: The disconnect(s) Do you see them??? Do I hear them?

[Read the article: Was Obama's skin darkened for Clinton ad?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

lateagain, good to hear from you as always.

My point was that I thought that the Broadsheet story was stupid, and this story looks pretty stupid to me as well. I also understand supporters of each candidate managed to post a lot of high velocity material after each story, mostly blaming the other side for being [insert applicable stereotyped adjective(s) here] assholes.

I guess I'm not suprised, being in the thin veneer of civilization school of thought. I've watched over the last few months as normally rational posters become increasing pissed at the malcontent posters from the other side. My favorite Smith from Tejas appears to fall into this camp. I think it's human tribalism at work. You discount the negative shit coming from your tribe, while hyping the shit coming from the other tribe. The fact that we identify with some larger tribe, only makes it worse, the inter-family feuds can be the nastiest, as you know each and every button and how to push it (again and again and again).

Also, each camp has a small number of posters who just want to hear their spew hit the internet. They're not interesting in any real conversation or exchange of ideas.

I think this campaign thing has to run it's course at this point; too much emotion has been invested and now it must be spent. That's probably not what you want to hear. The good news is it's a long way to November.
