@snidebottom

A voluntary beauty contest for hot Brazilian nuns is, by far, the least harmful way for priests to deal with their sexual feelings. This should be encouraged.

Wouldn’t the least harmful be for them to channel their sexual frustration into further devotion to god? I understand how foreign a concept voluntary celibacy is to our times. I understand that many people think it is celibacy that leads to pedophilia. I understand that people think celibacy is unnatural.

On the last point, they are right. Celibacy is unnatural. It is purposefully deciding to try, attempt, to rise above the animal self. It isn’t easy, I imagine. But I admire the sacrifice they make. And speaking to the few priests I have, they told me two things. One, the sex question is the one they get the most, by a wide margin. Two, it really isn’t so bad. Tough at first, but one gets beyond it. Even temptation becomes more rare. And when temptation comes, it is seen as a challenge. I’m no Catholic, but that is admirable.

I doubt highly that a beauty contest was a way to give outlet to sexual feeling. The usual outlet is prayer and contemplation. Maybe it was a way to humanize these women who are usually seen as quite a world apart.

@knecht

I have no idea what I would have done had I been faced with an unwanted pregnancy during this time, but I certainly wouldn't have been able to afford an abortion,

40 hours of work at the local mcdonalds at $5 an hour. Two weeks later, you have your abortion money.

I hate to broaden this into a man vs woman debate, but I think this well illustrates the difference between men and women.

I was out of work for an extended period of time. To the point where I had two weeks of savings left before I couldn’t make rent. So did I write a list of expenses and say, “I certainly wouldn’t be able to afford”? No, I took a job at a local wendy’s. Told the manager I’d take as many hours as he could give me. Ate there, every day with my employee discount, until I never wanted to eat another burger again (still don’t). But I dug myself out of that hole, because it mattered enough to me to do so.

Then I see here that to end an unwanted pregnancy, women aren’t willing to work an extra two weeks. If I needed to come up with $200 bucks for something that serious, I would. Damn right I would. I’d do whatever it takes to get it. So why can’t women? What’s the difficulty? Sure it isn’t easy, but it’s a long way from impossible.

Missed Opportunity

The perfect time for a BS writer to use “ewwww”, and she misses it.

Anyway, such marriages are not uncommon in our Western history either. Plenty of English had arranged marriages, and it involved plenty of girls under 18. Under 14 even. But boy, those darkies sure are evil.

Different things

So are you trying to dry, or moisturize? Toothpaste, rubbing alcohol, Witch hazel, are dehydrating. Lubricant would be moisturizing, or at least, trap moisture.

So what is most effective? Drying, or moisturizing?

BTW- A good source of Witch hazel is hemorrhoid pads. Cheap, one use, and a source of endless teasing by an older brother.

My New Orleans experience

Just a few months before the flood. I was struck by how much of a dump it was. This is New Orleans? What’s the BFD with this?

Faux. Everything just appearance. An alcohol fueled façade. Manufactured “music” that would make the Blues Brothers proud. Blues Brothers 2000, that is.

This city isn’t worth saving. Let it burn (flood).

A lot fewer prostitutes as well

That’s the one thing I noticed. Plenty, plenty of out of state girls. A big increase in T-girls, a big decrease in dominatrixes. Interesting fact that.

A LOT fewer scam girls. Most of the regular girls raised their prices, which you can’t blame them for but it makes it tougher for the average joes.

The really high end girls are cleaning up (figuratively, anyway). A few have even attended these parties. They say it is all quite lavish. This is how the other half lives. Or at least, how the top 1% lives.

Liquor, lobbyists, and ladies of the evening. Welcome to America.

@pyrateking

Keep this in mind, my dear non-New Orleanians: your Manhattan? The island?

Well, it is an island, but I’m not sure how it’s mine. I’ve spent less than two years there, all told.

But hey, keep assuming. Makes you look real clever.

Surprising angle

One thing I never considered regarding the VP spot, but is creating a lot of heat in those circles. Her stance on gun control. I’m seeing a lot of people saying that Obama will ban everything larger than a pop gun, whereas Palin being from Alaska knows how to hunt and will never touch guns.

True or not, the meme is out there. McCain has knocked a few people off the fence with this VP choice. Smart move.
