Liz Galst tells a bright and happy story about the Grease Car, but most unfortunately, not the whole one. Where there is a good idea, there is always someone right behind ready to steal it from you. Reports from California, Washington and Oregon, where the greaser is making some inroads so to speak, indicate an almost unheard of crime wave involving leftover waste oil and grease. Many chain fast food joints are having to lock down their waste oil where it is stored, not so much because it is stolen, but because of the greasy mess the thieves leave behind. One Seattle McDonald's manager was quoted in the New York Times as saying "We have security cameras, but they're trained on doors and drive thru's, not the trash!" He acknowledged further that he did have an agreement to give away his waste oil to a co-op, and that might be affected after the third break-in, leaving the parking lot slick with oil.
As a practicing psychotherapist I'd have to agree wholeheartedly with Cary's assessment of this situation. There just seems to be no upside for her here, not even the offer of marriage. A union of these three would most certainly be a huge mistake at this point, since they don't really seem to know each other well enough to make life altering decisions. My advice would mirror Cary's, stay in your single life, most certainly until YOU finish your education, as most who do finish find it embittering and tend to blame their partner, and find what your life is all about. You needn't drop the man altogether, but I've got a good hunch he'll not be around too long once your choice is made not to be a new live in mommy.
In these days of reality based 'docudramas' and other non-watchable nonsense, it is truly refreshing to be able to call a program 'clever'. That's what I find the writing on Burn Notice to be. Actually clever. Different from the rest of the dreck that's paraded out for commercial endorsements. And its USA channel that's coming to the mind's rescue, with outstanding shows like Monk and Burn Notice. Hopefully, they'll have something else for the winter that'll relieve the tedium of broadcast network garbage coming up for fall.
Once again, the McSameist's are distorting reality. I've worked with ACORN through my position with my city's Housing Dept., and can state categorically that they do NOT provide more than housing COUNSELING. It would be wonderful if they did or could provide direct housing assistance, since they have far fewer people looking over their shoulders, making sure they didn't give away the store to someone who deserved it. We currently have a waiting list of SIX years for low income housing including seniors and disabled people. I'm sure they could do better without all the constraints put on us, the government's supposed housing agency. If I didn't need the paycheck so badly, I'd work for them!
What a load!! I have read and heard a lot of nonsensical b/s in my 70 years on this planet, but never quite so virulent as blaming the meltdown of the financial markets on Hispanics, Blacks, Gays and other minorities. I believe if one goes to the roster of those companies in question, and look at the boards of directors and the persons who set policy, you will be hard pressed to find even ONE of the aforementioned groups listed there. In my experience, those groups of persons, being who and what they are, have to work that much harder and make BETTER decisions than the rest of the herd, just to stay in the exalted positions in which they are "allowed" to attain.
It's obvious to me and most of America, that the Conservative's day is over, and they just want to pin the blame on someone, ANYONE, that's available, and minorities are a ready target. Why did they leave the Jews out I wonder?? Oh, then it might seem to be a bit much like the early days of the Third Reich!!
Ms Traister, You said EXACTLY what I would have liked to said, had I been able to frame a sentence together! Like the Guv, I suffer from the verbal dyslexsia that accompanies public speaking, and frequently can't make myself understood, or make sense half the time. But then, I don't ever expect to have access to the nuke codes. Even the prospect of it scares the bejesus out of me...for myself AND for our country if she ever gets into the office for which she's campaigning..oh that's right, John McBain isn't really letting her do that is he?
To what depths will McBain actually stoop now I wonder? Blaming the housing market crisis on real estate agents? The investment banking problems on tellers? The gas price problems on bicycle riders? Man makes less and less sense as days get shorter and shorter.
Speaking as a physician and a committed supporter of a woman's right to choose her own destiny, and someone who was around pre-Roe Vs. Wade, I can say without question that the scenario laid out here is not only possible, but quite probable, given the correct circumstances. It is absolutely chilling to me to think of going back to those days of back street illegal abortions, for that will most certainly be a direct effect.
The only way out of this for the good of all women's rights is to get more progressives in office, from school boards, mayors, to senate seat and presidents. We can lock the Right out of making decisions that effect the way women deal with life.
More of the same for BillO. He talks over his "Guests", keeping, them on the defensive, not getting a word at all in, much less otherwise. If Rep Frank had the wherewithall, he would've been in the Fox Studio, and given that pundit a smack!
I for one would have PAID to see it!!!!!
