Not a fan

I don't really care either way about her performance, but think that the comments about Ms. Spears weight are over the line. She looks great!

As for the overwhelming media coverage of her issues ... I feel for anyone who has to live under that sort of scrutiny. If I were her, I'd find a new career. She could spend a few years doing something to "give back" then have her comeback in her 30s or 40s. Or not...

From one existential artist to another

Nobody cares. They are all busy with their own interpretations of the world. Follow Cary's advice, find a way to be yourself in the midst of the crowd and stop worrying about it.

You exist, so make art. Whether people "get it" or not is irrelevant and outside your control. People invent their own stories in order to make it through life and often what they "get" is not what you had imagined or intended. This is neither a good, nor a bad thing.

To paraphrase Zoroaster, "If you do not make art, you are destined to wake up one morning and find that 'Dog' is dead and you have become a giant cockroach. Is that really what you want?"

Original article: Curious George

I don't blame Carlin for not voting ...

I can SO relate, but I can't not participate with a clear conscience as there are people who died so that I can have the right to vote. I view voting as part of the price one pays for being here.

So I vote in every election and once I cast my vote, I divorce myself from the outcome b/c one vote is all I get.

I also feel that this world we live in is not "real" in any permanent sense. This is just where we happen to be right now. I make the best of it and go on. Maybe the "terrorists" will get me, but I refuse to waste my life being afraid of what might happen.

I'm feeling cynical myself today, so #%&@ it all, I plan to enjoy life while I can.

Check with your local or state bar

They often have programs for this sort of thing. In Tennessee, TLAP is the place to go. http://tlap.org/

War is peace

Is anyone surprised by this? Anyone? I am disappointed, but not surprised.

This sort of thing is to be expected, even encouraged. It's for our own good. Why do you hate freedom? I, for one, love Big Brother.

Now back to the salt mines, all of you.
