Reporting conflated with propagandizing
[Read the article: The truth behind the Pollack-O'Hanlon trip to Iraq]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Until reporters, interviewers and an informed public demand reportage do be accomplished via the use of transparent and verifiable evidence presented in context, there will continue to be propaganda disguised and packaged as news.
Your interview illustrates the ill will, the deceit, and the bad faith that is used. Where does this not serve as the foundation of mainstream reporting anymore?
The government, corporations and the mainstream media sources conspire to mislead the American voting public.
It's our civic duty to expose this plot for what it is and to take back our government, to restore a fair fourth estate, and to hobble the unbridled power and control of the corporations which now dictate government, and thus, us.

The Constitution Party
[Read the article: Carl Levin reveals the Democrats' Iraq "strategy"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]That's the only party I'm interested in supporting at this point.
I have been posting about the intention to remain in Iraq permanently and to launch air attacks from Balad.
By following healthcare infrastructure and capacity, one can fairly easily track the planning and strategy of the military. It's Balad that holds the key.
All three branches of government have largely stopped doing the will of "we, the people". It is up to the citizenry to rid ourselves of those who do not uphold their oaths to defend and support the Constitution and to defend the US from all enemies - foreign and domestic.
We, the people, must act to take back our government, to defend and support our Constitution, and to heal our battered and war-torn democracy. Our government has pulled away as rogues and traitors, and we are obligated to rid ourselves of it and to replace it with people who will do the will of we, the people within the context of the Constitution.

Argument is Correct, But the Premise Is Wrong
[Read the article: The Democrats' responsibility in the wake of Gonzales' resignation]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Glenn:
Your argument is congruent with remediating and restoring a dysfunctional system within the framework of the constitution. However, there has already been a coup, and the people no longer have representation, power and control over their own governance.
The appointment of a new US attorney general is simply theatre - a performance. In reality, there is no more rule of law. Laws are applied unevenly and only used to oppress and control those deemed dangerous to the corporatacracy, the unitary executive and the military used to portect the interests of the first two.
You left a sarcastic comment about giving up and doing nothing.
Actually, what is needed is another revolution to oust the entire elected government on the federal level and to install elected representatives who will actually do the will of we, the people, and who will uphold, support and defend the Constitution from ALL ENEMIES - FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC.
Our gravest enemies are currently installed in the White House, and in the House and the Senate. It is our civic duty to identify them as enemies of the Constitution and to remove them from office.
That's what we must do. We must not allow the circuses of the current two corrupt and broken party system to continue to destroy what's remaining of the US Constitution and of the US model of a democratic government.

It Does Matter
[Read the article: The Democrats' responsibility in the wake of Gonzales' resignation]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Glenn:
You said:
So you're saying we should just ignore the whole AG issue, allow Bush to replace Gonzales with whomever he wants, since it doesn't matter? What specifically are you doing to advance the Real Revolution?
That's just it - it matters as an essential core feature. But there is no longer a functioning democracy - the s/elected officials no longer do the will of the people. The "real revolution" as you called it is predicated on identifying those domestic enemies as contained in the oath of office. You do that by outlining the discrepancies between spoken words and actions, between historical fiction and fact, between propaganda and verifiable evidence-based reason.
Each of us can do that with our voice and with our vote, to the extent that we are able. We can do it with civil disobedience. We can do it within the means of the Constitution.
However, it is critical that we know that the enemies don't play by the rules of the Constitution. They pervert the rules for their own ends. They use it to oppress the very rights of the people - that would be us, Glenn. And they have amassed incredible power and control, which you very ably and forcefully describe - in the manipulation of the media message, in the delivery of propaganda disguised as news and patriotism, in the oppressive tax inequalities, in the politicization of governmental agencies and functions, in the ability of corporations to control legislation and public policy, in the withholding of healthcare, education, worker protections, living wages and all of the other features of a dominant and viable middle class meritocracy majority.
We, the people, have played by the rules, and so for that, we are blindfolded, muffled, made deaf, and have had our hands and feet bound, whilst the enemies have amassed more and more and more weapons to be used against us.
It's a highly uneven battleground. There are two sets of rules - one could make the case that the domestic enemies are terrorists of we, the people. I don't have much in the way of weaponry except a small voice on the internet. The ammunition is the Constitution.
Is it enough?
Increasingly, I don't believe that it is.

One Incestuous Orgy
[Read the article: Former Clinton officials lobby for amnesty for FISA lawbreaking]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Glenn, Glenn, Glenn.
I've been writing different versions of the same message over and over.
We, the people, are no longer the arbiters of how we are governed. The s/elected ones mate in one continuing incestuous orgy, and their passion mates are corporations/lobbyists (always on top) and dominionist fundamental christianists (on top, as they proudly proclaim in their name) along with political appointees, who are always the bottoms.
Once you get over the quaint notion that we, the people actually have some voice and some influence in government and how we are ordered to conduct ourselves, you might be able to move on.
